"it is nothing but a small-time flu"

Outspoken actress Kangana Ranaut has contracted Covid-19.

On May 8, 2021, she took to Instagram to share that she got herself tested after experiencing some issues.

Sharing a picture of herself in a yoga pose, Kangana wrote:

“I was feeling tired and weak with slight burning sensation in my eyes for past few days, was hoping to go to Himachal so got my test done yesterday and today the result came I am Covid positive.

“I have quarantined myself, I had no idea this virus is having a party in my body, now that I know I will demolish it.

“People, please don’t give anything any power over you, if you are scared it will scare you more.

“Come let’s destroy this Covid-19, it is nothing but a small-time flu which got too much press and now psyching few people. Har Har Mahadev.”

Kangana has often been criticised for not wearing a face mask in public.

Reacting to pictures of her at Mumbai airport, TV actress Kishwer Merchant had said:

“How is this woman never in a mask?”

On another occasion, Kishwer’s husband, Suyyash Rai, said that Kangana visiting a dubbing studio without a mask was “dumbness at its best”.

On May 4, 2021, Kangana was permanently suspended from Twitter for repeated violations.

Following her suspension, Kangana reacted, saying she still has numerous platforms to voice her opinion.

She had said: “Twitter has only proved my point they are Americans and by birth, a white person feels entitled to enslave a brown person, they want to tell you what to think, speak or do.

“Fortunately I have many platforms I can use to raise my voice including my own art in the form of cinema but my heart goes out to the people of this nation who have been tortured, enslaved and censored for thousands of years and still there is no end to the suffering.”

It now looks like she has made Instagram her main mouthpiece.

On May 7, 2021, she commented on a news report about India’s ongoing Covid-19 crisis. She alleged that Delhi has been hoarding oxygen.

She wrote: “India does not need more oxygen. It needs dharma fear of God. Shame on these vultures!!!”

In another post, she said: “This country has so many thieves. We don’t need oxygen, humanity needs honesty.”
