"Corona’s test turned out to be positive."
Singer Kanika Kapoor is the first Indian celebrity to have tested positive for COVID-19 after returning to India from the United Kingdom on Friday, 20 March 2020.
Reportedly, Kanika attended a party in Lucknow after returning to Mumbai from London. The singer joined a party at the Taj Hotel and resided in an apartment there from March 14 2020 to March 16 2020.
The Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje was also in attendance with his son BJP MP Dushyant Singh and daughter-in-law Niharika Raje.
After her time there, Kanika Kapoor moved to the Gallant apartment in Lucknow where she hosted a party. Allegedly, 125 people were in attendance.
Kanika also attended a third party at the Shalimar Grand Apartment. She then went to Gulista Colony, Lucknow on March 15 2020.
This gathering was hosted by Lokayukta Sanjay Mishra in celebration of Holi.
Previously, Kanika went to Kanpur to stay with her maternal uncle, Vipul Tandon on March 13 2020, to March 14 2020 at the Kalpana Apartment.
During her stay with her uncle, she attended a function where 50 to 60 people were present.
Kanika Kapoor took to Instagram, to share the news of being infected with the virus.

However, according to Kanika she did not host a party or attend them. In fact, she stated that while being screened at the airport she was clear of the Coronavirus. She explained:
“I live in London and work in India. I have three children who study in London. I visit her every month for 10 days.
“I was in London from late February to March 9 (2020). I returned to India in connection with work. Everything was closed here, that’s why I came to my parents in Lucknow.
“I did not hold any kind of party because at such a time who will come to my party? This is not the right time to have a party.
“All the news that I have been partying they are all wrong. I am not stupid.
“When I returned to the country ten days ago, I was scanned at the airport under a normal procedure.
“I saw the symptoms four days ago. I had flu for the last four days. I got the test done. Corona’s test turned out to be positive.
“Me and my family are completely quarantined. The process of mapping the people who came in contact with me is going on.
“I called myself on all the helplines here and asked to do my test but they kept saying for two days that you do not need a test because there are no symptoms.
“I was told that you should be 14 days self-quarantined. I did not get out of the room for the last four days.
“I requested the CMO, then I was tested. I am currently in the hospital. I have a very mild virus attack.”
“It is very sad to read that I am trolling without any reason, but people should understand that I am a single mother and I have to take care of the children.
“I did not stay in any five-star hotel, nor did I attend any party or give a party.”
Despite this, the U.P police are set to act against Kanika Kapoor. They have decided to file an FIR against the singer.
Kanika will be sectioned under Section 269 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) which states:
“Whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is and which he knows or has reason to believe to be likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to six months, or with fine, or with both.”
Furthermore, those who have been in contact with Kanika Kapoor like Dushyant Singh, Varun Gandhi and more have also been in self-isolation.
