“He is in self quarantine at home"
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has tested positive for Covid-19, and is currently in quarantine at home.
His mother, Neetu Kapoor, confirmed the news on social media. Neetu had also tested positive for the virus in the past.
Ranbir Kapoor’s positive test comes during the second phase of India’s vaccination process, which is currently underway.
Many senior Bollywood actors have taken the vaccination, such as Rakesh Roshan.
Neetu Kapoor took to Instagram to share the news of her son’s positive test.
The post came on Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
The caption read:
“Thank you for your concern and your good wishes.
“Ranbir has tested positive for Covid-19. He is on medication and recovering well.
“He is in self quarantine at home and following all precautions.”
Comments have since been coming in to wish the actor a quick recovery.
Ranbir Kapoor’s sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni left a heart emoji underneath the Instagram post, as did his girlfriend Alia Bhatt’s mother Soni Razdan.
Despite Neetu Kapoor’s official confirmation, news of Ranbir’s potential positive test has been circulating since Monday, March 8, 2021.
Fellow Bollywood actor and Ranbir’s uncle, Randhir Kapoor, was asked if Ranbir had contracted Covid-19.
He responded to the questions with “yes”, before adding:
“I believe he is not well, but I am not sure what he has got. I am not in town.”
The Indian government is rolling out vaccine doses for frontline healthcare workers and senior citizens in their bid to slow the spread of Covid-19.
However, they still recommend that people take all the necessary precautions to protect both themselves and others.
In the initial vaccination phase, multiple Bollywood actors tested positive for the virus, including Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora.
In the midst of his positive Covid-19 test, Ranbir Kapoor has multiple Bollywood films ahead of him.
He is due to appear in Karan Malhotra’s period-action drama Shamshera and Ayan Mukerji’s action fantasy film Brahmastra.
Brahmastra also stars Ranbir Kapoor’s girlfriend Alia Bhatt.
Recently, Bhatt took to Instagram to share her excitement to be working on the film.
Bhatt’s post came on Thursday, March 4, 2021.
The caption read:
“it’s a blessing to be on this journey…& these magical boys just make everything
“P.S – this is jussssttt the beginning”
Brahmastra was originally set to release in December 2020.
