The family of a 24-year-old Punjabi woman fatally stabbed in West London fear it may have been a racially motivated attack, as a man is charged with her murder.

Emergency services were called to a property on Uxbridge Road in Hayes at around 7: 55 am on July 12, 2026, after reports of a stabbing.

Officers found Kirandeep Kaur suffering from stab wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 20s was also discovered outside the property with stab injuries. He remains in hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A large section of Uxbridge Road was cordoned off on Sunday afternoon while forensic officers examined the scene.

A forensic tent was put up and multiple police officers remained at the location throughout the investigation.

Daniel Sean James was charged on July 13 with murder, attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident.

The 44-year-old appeared before Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Detective Chief Inspector Allam Bhangoo said:

“This is a shocking incident which has tragically resulted in one woman losing her life and another man in hospital with injuries.

“Our thoughts at this time are with both victims and their loved ones, who are being supported by specialist officers.”

Originally from Punjab’s Tarn Taran district, Kirandeep Kaur moved to England in 2024 on a student visa and had recently completed her studies.

According to her family, she started working and was planning to settle in the UK.

It is reported that relatives sold land and took out loans to finance Kirandeep’s education.

Expressing suspicion over the circumstances of the killing, the family has urged the authorities to investigate the possibility of a racially motivated attack.

Previously speaking to Metro, Kirandeep Kaur’s family described her as a “wonderful mother”.

Her brother-in-law, Sahib, said: “She had just had a baby. The family were so happy. We are heartbroken. She was a wonderful mother.”

A family friend added: “She was a mum and a very nice person, really lovely. The family are devastated.”

Police enquiries into the fatal stabbing remain ongoing. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Metropolitan Police.
