It’s official! Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra has married American singer-songwriter Nick Jonas.
Their second of the two wedding ceremonies took place on December 2, 2018.
Following their western style wedding on December 1, 2018, Priyanka and Nick had the traditional Indian ceremony.
Next, it’s onto the receptions and welcoming their guests in Dehli.
Post-wedding images of them leaving for their Delhi, show the couple very much in love and Nick holding his bride tightly when posing for some of the photos.
Leaving for Delhi, Priyanka wore a lush green saree while Nick opted for a casual look in a beige brown outfit.
While Priyanka’s outfit looks stunning, it is her sindoor which stands out, giving the look now, of a happily married woman.
The Indian marriage ceremony took place at the Baradari Lawns of Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur and it was nothing short of special.
The Mehrangarh Fort acted as the backdrop and was decked up with red flowers.
As with the other ceremony, guests were prohibited from bringing their mobile phones which made the event intimate and all the more special.
According to reports, the former Quantico star wore a creation from renowned designer Sabyasachi at her Indian ceremony. There was much speculation as to who would be designing the bride’s outfit.
The groom was also dressed in an outfit by Sabyasachi.
Sources close to Priyanka said: “She looked stunning.”
The source added that the actress wore a red sari while Nick sported a traditional outfit, along with a turban.
Actor and singer Nick made his grand entrance on a ‘ghodi’, a white horse, as per Jodhpuri traditions. He was also accompanied by a proper ‘baraat’ (grooms wedding procession).
Images of the horse being prepared for Nick’s arrival were shared on social media.
When the decision was made about the mode of transport, it was reported Priyanka had asked Nick:
“Are you comfortable on a horse?”, to which he replied: “I am, I can’t wait.”
After arriving at the venue, Nick joined his bride and took a ride on an elephant around the Palace gardens before the ceremony began.
A source close to the couple said that it was important to have two ceremonies to honour both sets of cultures stating:
“It is super important for Priyanka to have an Indian ceremony that honours her heritage and culture, just as it’s important to also have a Western ceremony that honours Nick’s upbringing.
“They are doing both.”
Many stars from the entertainment world attended the joyous occasion. This includes Bollywood couple Anusha Dandekar and Karan Kundra.
Nick’s eldest brother Kevin Jonas arrived with wife Danielle Jonas. His other brother Joe was there alongside fiancée and Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner.
With Priyanka and Nick being two big celebrities a lot of preparation went into the wedding festivities.
Celebrities from the world of Hollywood and Bollywood have sent their congratulations to the newlyweds.
Stars like Alia Bhatt, Shraddha Kapoor and Michael B. Jordan left messages on the couple’s Instagram following their pre-wedding sangeet and Mehendi ceremonies.
Supermodel Gisele Bundchen wrote:
“Beautiful!!! Congratulations! Wishing you all the love and happiness.”
Even leading condom brand Durex sent their message of congratulations to Priyanka and Nick on Twitter:
“Congratulations Priyanka and Nick. We’re thrilled to finally see you come together.”
They captioned it with: “The pleasure is all yours.”
Durex is known for posting quirky messages to newlywed stars. The prominent brand did the same for Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh when they got married,
Prior to the wedding on December 2, 2018, the couple hosted a sangeet which was fitting for the power couple.
It was all smiles and enjoyment for everyone as the couple and guests danced and sung during the ceremony.
The night was capped off with a magnificent fireworks display which filled the sky with colour.
Their Indian ceremony concluded with an after party into the early hours.
Wedding festivities of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas will continue with two wedding receptions, one in Delhi and the other in Mumbai.
Many famous names are set to attend, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is certain that the receptions will be just as extravagant as the other celebrations in Jodhpur for the happy couple.
