As ‘Giant’, the film about his career releases in cinemas, Prince Naseem Hamed revealed that a lot of the movie is “made up”.

"80-90 per cent of the film is just made up."

Prince Naseem Hamed has raised eyebrows over the new boxing film about his career, saying it is “all scripted”.

Giant chronicles the Sheffield boxing icon’s rise under boxing trainer Brendan Ingle.

It also explores their relationship, including their later falling out.

Directed by Rowan Athale, Amir El-Masry portrays the boxer while Pierce Brosnan plays Ingle.

Giant released on January 9, 2026, and Hamed confessed that much of the film isn’t true.

Hamed said: “I don’t want to go through everything that’s wrong with this film, it has some good moments and some bad moments and there’s some mixed feelings about it.

“But to watch a film that’s done about you and your trainer, it’s not easy to watch when you’ve had no input whatsoever.

“The only time I got to see the film was when it was finished, and then you can have your opinion, but it’s not an easy process to see all of these things within the film list far from the truth.

“But I’m treating it like a movie is a movie, Hollywood is Hollywood and the film game is the film game; we can’t change that.

“It’s all scripted and – I won’t say I hate to say it, because I don’t – but 80-90 per cent of the film is just made up.

“It’s made up on an interpretation of what the directors and writers wanted to get some interest.

“I am not that person to go through everything that is wrong with the film and everything that is far from the truth and what really happened.”

Naseem Hamed plans to tell his story in a documentary series:

“Watch what’s coming, because I’m going to do a documentary series, God willing better than The Last Dance with Michael Jordan.

“Mark Wahlberg is the person that’s desperate to do it and he loves boxing. I will use it as a springboard to where we can go with it.”

“I want people to know the truth is coming; watch this, enjoy it, and then hopefully we’ll see the documentary series and an autobiography and audio book.

“If you can get on stage and give fans the life and times of your career and make just as much money as you did fighting in the ring, that time is going to come.

“With that comes a British tour and a world tour, there’s a lot to do. The time has passed where we had a break and stayed out of the media. This has brought us back in and we’re going to town again.”
