"The mental distress this coverage has caused me is beyond words."

Pori Moni came under scrutiny following abuse allegations made by her domestic worker, Pinky Akter.

She claimed that the actress physically assaulted her.

The incident, which was reported at Dhaka’s Vatara Police Station, revolved around a dispute over feeding Pori Moni’s one-year-old daughter.

In response to the allegations, Pori Moni took to Facebook to address the media coverage and the accusations.

Pori Moni expressed her concerns about the way the incident was being portrayed in the media, calling it a “media trial”.

She stated that while she has evidence to defend herself, she is choosing to withhold it in order to respect the legal process.

Pori said: “Anyone familiar with my life over the past few years would know how deeply I value the people who work with me.”

She went on to emphasise how much her staff means to her, describing them as family members.

Pori shared that she has celebrated many personal occasions, like Father’s Day and Valentine’s Day, with her staff, deeming them integral parts of her life.

The actress criticised the media for rushing to report the story without verifying the facts.

She questioned whether the media could have waited before airing such a one-sided narrative.

Pori said: “The mental distress this coverage has caused me is beyond words.

“Couldn’t the media have waited to verify the facts before creating this drama?”

In her broadcast, Pori also mentioned that the police had come to her house between 9:00 pm and 9:30 pm to question everyone involved.

She reiterated that if she had done something wrong, she would accept the consequences.

The actress questioned: “Anyone can make an accusation, but will you declare someone guilty before it’s even proven?”

Pori Moni further drew attention to her past, referencing her previous false imprisonment.

She recalled how the media had relentlessly pursued her during that time, sensationalising even the smallest details.

Despite the coverage, she chose not to speak out because she believed in the power of the legal system and still does.

Pori Moni also highlighted the discrepancy between her long-term staff and the new worker who made the allegations.

She pointed out that her current and previous domestic staff had never raised any issues during their years of service.

She said: “I have a domestic helper who has worked with me for nine years.

“My current driver has been with me for four years, and none of them have ever made any allegations against me.”

The actress concluded her live session by stating that all she wants is peace for herself and her children.

Pori Moni asked the public and the media not to reduce her to mere headlines without truth.

As of now, the police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
