"Why does the media focus on my personal life"
Bangladeshi actress Pori Moni has urged the public and media to stop dragging her personal life into controversies.
Known for her outspoken nature, the actress has often found herself in the spotlight for reasons beyond her work.
Over the years, speculation about her relationships, legal battles, and even drug-related cases have overshadowed her professional achievements.
Recently, Pori Moni made headlines for a legal case filed by Nasir Uddin Mahmud, a director of Dhaka’s Savar Boat Club.
He accused the actress of assault, attempted murder, vandalism, and intimidation.
The court granted her bail on January 27, 2025, after all legal formalities were completed.
Two guarantors signed her bail bond – her lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat, and musician Sheikh Sadi.
Sheikh Sadi’s frequent presence alongside Pori in court fuelled rumours about a possible romantic relationship between the two.
This led to widespread social media speculation. However, Pori has not addressed the rumours directly.
She recently expressed her frustrations in a heartfelt Facebook post, questioning why the public remains so fixated on her personal life rather than her career.
Pori reflected on past icons of Bangladeshi cinema, such as Shabana, Babita, Kabori, and Rozina.
Pori Moni asked whether they faced the same level of personal scrutiny.
She wrote: “For some reason today, I felt like asking myself a lot of questions in my own way.
“What have I done in my career that captivates the public so much? Why does the media focus on my personal life more than my work?”
Pori also emphasised that everyone deserves the right to live in peace.
Urging people to respect her privacy, she stated:
“Please, for God’s sake, stop dragging my personal life into unnecessary discussions.
“I am an actress, a woman, but above all, I am a human being.”
She further expressed her deep concern for her children’s well-being, highlighting her role as a mother.
Pori Moni said: “I want to provide my children with a beautiful, healthy life.
“As their only guardian, I want to give them the best, just like any mother would.”
Pori described the last few months as the most challenging period of her life, adding that there was no need to explain why.
She concluded her post with a plea for kindness, requesting:
“Oh humans, oh greatest beings of the earth, please show me some mercy.
“Let me live my life peacefully first, and then I will answer all these countless questions.”
