"This particular monster has been in my home."

Sitarist Anoushka Shankar reacted to British comedian Russell Brand’s conviction.

He was found guilty of raping one woman and sexually assaulting three others.

The actor-comedian was convicted in court and will likely face a significant sentence.

Anoushka Shankar reacted to the news on Instagram, calling him a “monster”.

She also recalled his visit to her home years ago in her post.

Anoushka said it was horrific to see his misogyny celebrated for years.

She posted a picture of a newspaper stand with headlines reporting the conviction.

Those headlines announced that Russell had been found guilty of the crimes.

She wrote: “It’s impossible to put the feelings into words.

“This monster wore his true character on his sleeve, hiding in plain sight.

“It’s horrific that society allowed men like this to build castles to their egos, be celebrated for their hubris, their addictions, their violence, their misogyny.

“He needed to go down, and this is a win.

“But so many others don’t. And that never leaves a corner of my mind.”

Anoushka also recalled another unnamed man bringing Russell to her home many years ago.

She described that man as someone she came to know for his own subtler brand of patriarchy.

“Separately, it makes me shudder to know that this particular monster has been in my home (brought by someone else, many years ago, a man I came to know for his own, subtler brand of patriarchy).

“It’s a horrible feeling to know how close this lurks, at all times, across all cultures.”

“But today, at least, some justice…”

Russell built his image for years as someone who bragged about his sexual exploits.

He was convicted by a jury at Southwark Crown Court in London on November 5, 2026.

The jury found him guilty of raping one woman and sexually assaulting three others.

According to AP, the judge denied a bail request that would have let him see his children.

The judge cited the possibility that he might flee as the reason for the decision.

The judge said: “I regret the hardship caused to the children, of course.”

“But the hardship has been caused by serious criminal offending by their father.”

Russell Brand was remanded in custody following the verdict in court.

The judge told him that he faced a “significant custodial term” during his sentencing on November 9, 2026.

The actor-comedian also faces accusations of raping two other women. One of those accusations involves a 16-year-old schoolgirl.
