"We hope the EYEKONS feel the love and energy"
Lara Raj takes centre stage in a bold new collaboration between Mattel’s Monster High and KATSEYE, as the group remakes ‘Fright Song’.
Monster High is a fashion doll franchise launched by Mattel in 2010.
It has built a cult following by blending horror-inspired aesthetics with high school drama and a message of radical self-acceptance.
The brand centres around the teenage children of famous monsters who navigate life, friendship, and identity at Monster High School.
Now, the legacy continues with KATSEYE reimagining ‘Fright Song’ for a new audience.

The new version adds updated lyrics, fresh vocals, and an energetic tempo that carries forward Monster High’s message of fearless individuality.
The accompanying music video sees KATSEYE transformed into monster personas inspired by each member’s heritage and personal strength.
It’s a visual feast of high-concept choreography, cinematic lighting, and costume design that blends horror and high fashion into a hauntingly glamorous school-day dream.
Lara Raj’s transformation stands out.
She becomes a Rakshasa, a mythical shapeshifter from South Asian folklore, described by Mattel as “a magnetic and clever shapeshifter” who acts as a big-sister figure to her groupmates.
The brand said: “She’s constantly encouraging her beasties to embrace their authentic selves and fight for what’s important.”
Fierce, passionate, and true to her roots, Lara’s monster identity reflects her real-life persona as a leader and advocate for authenticity.

KATSEYE said: “Monster High has always stood for celebrating what makes you unique and using your voice to remind every ghoul that they belong, which is exactly what we try to do through our music.
“Having grown up fans of Monster High dolls and content, recreating ‘Fright Song’ and designing our very own monster identities has been such a dream.
“We hope the EYEKONS feel the love and energy we poured into this project.”

Krista Berger, Senior Vice President of Barbie and Global Head of Dolls at Mattel, added:
“KATSEYE embodies our core values of Monster High – bold creativity, fearless self-expression, and a commitment to lifting up others.
“KATSEYE grew up as fans of the brand.”
“We’re thrilled that this collaboration brings our iconic Monster High anthem to life in a whole new way, while continuing our mission to create a world where everyone is proud to be their authentic self.”
To mark the release, Mattel has unveiled one-of-a-kind custom Monster High dolls based on each member of KATSEYE.

These dolls won’t be sold to the public, but they serve as a visual tribute to the spirit of the project. Each design fuses the girls’ personal style with their unique monster alter egos.
Lara’s doll, with its fierce styling and South Asian-inspired details, celebrates the mythology of the Rakshasa and the artist’s own identity.

‘Fright Song’ is out now and for fans of Lara Raj, South Asian representation, or just high-energy pop with heart, this is more than a music drop; it’s a moment.
