The story of a father in Pakistan who affixed a CCTV camera to his daughter’s head to ensure her safety has gone viral on social media.

It was done as a means of monitoring and safeguarding her movements.

While the concept of protective fathers is universal, this man’s unique approach has taken it to new heights.

In the viral video, the young woman is being interviewed while a camera is mounted on her head.

She revealed that her father’s decision was prompted by a tragic incident in Karachi involving another woman.

The incident resulted in the unfortunate woman’s death.

This incident fuelled her parents’ concern for her safety, leading to the implementation of this unique surveillance strategy.

Describing her father as her personal “security guard”, she said:

“My father put this CCTV camera on my head to keep an eye on me, to track what I do and where I go.”

She expressed a sobering realisation that the dangers faced by others could potentially befall her as well.

The video was shared on X with the caption: “Next level security.”

It attracted a lot of attention with nearly 18,000 views and a plethora of comments.

Some users responded with a touch of humour, suggesting that perhaps the level of digital surveillance had gone a tad too far.

A user said: “Now this is a bit too much.”

One asked: “CCTV or She-She TV?”

Another stated: “Only in Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, others raised concerns about the camera’s positioning.

A user commented:

“If someone attacks her from the back, it will not appear on the CCTV camera.”

Another wrote: “Should have installed a 360-degree camera.”

One questioned sarcastically: “Did he not find a bigger camera than this?”

The father’s extreme measures to safeguard his daughter intersect with tragic events unfolding all over Pakistan.

Data revealed an alarming surge in street crime against women in 2024.

In April 2024, a 10-year-old girl named Ayesha went missing in Gujar Khan.

Ayesha’s sudden disappearance prompted immediate action by her family as they alerted the authorities in a desperate bid to locate her.

However, what began as a frantic search for the missing girl resulted in a devastating discovery.

Her body was found in a well near her home.

Similarly, in July, a young woman dressed in a school uniform was found dead in Khokhrapar.

Her body was recovered from a garbage dump and the woman’s remains were in an advanced state of decomposition.

Ayesha is our South Asia correspondent who adores music, arts and fashion. Being highly ambitious, her motto for life is, "Even the Impossible spells I'm Possible".
