It was later revealed that Rose Garden Palace did not exist.
A man was left red-faced after he travelled from Dubai to India and found that his bride did not show up on their wedding day.
Deepak Kumar arrived in Moga, Punjab, to marry Manpreet Kaur.
Over 150 guests had also been invited to the wedding.
However, the 24-year-old had a shock when he found out the wedding venue he was meant to go to did not exist. Manpreet was also nowhere to be seen.
It was reported that Deepak had been messaging Manpreet on Instagram.
Although they had never met in person, they had “grown close”. They were in an online relationship for three years.
Their families agreed on the wedding arrangements over the phone and Deepak returned to India in November 2024.
On December 6, Deepak’s friends and family travelled from their home in Jalandhar to a venue called Rose Garden Palace in Moga.
After arriving in Moga, they were told someone would escort them to the venue.
But hours passed and nobody arrived.
Deepak and his guests decided to search for the venue themselves. Locals told them they had never heard about the venue.
It was later revealed that Rose Garden Palace did not exist.
Deepak and his family tried to call Manpreet but her phone was switched off, leaving them stranded.
Deepak had spent lots of money on travel for the guests, catering arrangements and a videographer, only for his online bride to ‘ghost‘ him.
He subsequently filed a police complaint.
In his complaint, Deepak said he had sent Manpreet up to Rs. 60,000 (£550) for wedding expenses while her family made the arrangements.
Deepak’s father Prem Chand said everything, including the wedding venue and guest lists, had been arranged via phone calls.
According to Prem, the bride’s family had suggested the venue and assured them that everything would go smoothly.
He said the wedding was initially planned for December 2 but was postponed to December 6, apparently due to Manpreet’s father falling ill.
Prem added:
“We borrowed money for this wedding and brought 150 guests, only to face this situation.”
Deepak accused Manpreet of cheating him and demanded police action.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Harjinder Singh confirmed that a complaint had been lodged and said:
“We are tracing the girl through her phone number and will investigate further using call records and other details.”
