the happy occasion soon turned to sadness and anger.

An Indian bride waited all day to get married, however, the wedding never happened as the groom did not turn up.

The incident happened on Saturday, November 30, 2019, in Amritsar, Punjab.

The bride had arrived at her wedding with henna on her hands and wearing bangles.

Everyone at the wedding was looking forward to the procession, however, there was no sign of the groom. The bride decided to wait.

The rest of the procession also waited but as the day went on, the bride and the guests became tense.

It got to the evening and the groom had still not turned up. The irritated bride went to find out what happened only to discover that her husband-to-be had made up a story and as a result, could not attend the procession.

The bride became angry and went to the police station along with her family to make a complaint.

She told police that she had been in a relationship with a man named Mohit. He had been promising to marry her for the past four and a half years.

However, Mohit’s parents did not allow him to go through with the marriage.

After Mohit and the woman complained to the police, his parents eventually agreed to the marriage.

Both sets of families gave consent to the marriage and the wedding was scheduled for November 30, 2019.

The wedding was set to take place in the Shiv Mandir Sukka Talab, an ancient temple which had been decorated for the ceremony.

On the day of the wedding, relatives arrived and waited for the wedding. But the happy occasion soon turned to sadness and anger.

After waiting all day without any sign of the groom, the Indian bride called Mohit to find out his whereabouts.

Mohit claimed that his father was unwell so he decided not to attend his own wedding.

The bride and her parents were left saddened and decided to go to the police.

Her father told officers that on July 23, 2019, the two families mutually consented to the marriage in the presence of the village leaders.

Mohit’s father Sunil Sehgal had stated in October 2019 that his son will marry the young woman on November 30.

However, the marriage arrangement was not fulfilled after the groom chose not to go through with the wedding, claiming that his father was ill when it was later found to be untrue.

Meanwhile, SHO Rajwinder Kaur said that an investigation is underway. She added that action will be taken once more information is gathered.
