She posted an image from a time when she looked frail and said:

“How amazing to see what I went through. To have the images and words, the memories to follow my journey and wellness. From victim to survivor to thriver.

“Once you choose that journey it’s hard to ever be a victim again.

“You might find yourself in a challenging state, sadness, anger, fear and old traumas might light up in yourself.

“But now you can recognise the resources to facilitate you back to the state you want to be in.

“An empowered, peaceful, confident state of good health, mental and physical strength, in awe of everything and finding the courage to love and embrace life and living.

“I am here. I have arrived. I am more than enough. Alhamdullilah [Praise be to God]. Amazing amazing amazing.”

In 2022, Nadia updated her fans on Instagram and informed them that she had officially finished her treatment and gave heartfelt thanks to everyone who had kept her in their prayers.

She had said: “All tests are cancer clear. Shukar Alhamdulillah [All thanks to God].

“Thank you all for your love, prayers and support.

“I have some nerve damage in my feet due to the brutal chemotherapy, but I shall live to dance my way because bhangra is all in the shoulders anyway.

“I am eternally grateful to all my friends and family. You know who you are.

“Some friends in the industry always felt by my side, Sania Saeed, Muniba Mazari, Sultana Siddiqui and Adnan Siddiqui. Thank you.”

Nadia Jamil has always been very vocal about the sexual abuse she was subjected to as a child and has always encouraged victims to speak up about the ordeal as they were not to blame and should not be made to feel so.

Speaking on The Voice of America Urdu, Nadia spoke in detail about her past and explained why she had decided to speak up.

Nadia Jamil stated: “I was being harassed or abused by the house help at my own house.

“I reported the incident to the family but no one paid attention to it.

“I became quiet and did not react to it because no one took it seriously.

“I thought it was not a big deal, but it was after the Kasur incident that I decided to speak up for the awareness of those kids who become victims.

“I wanted to tell the kids to speak up and never stop living your life.”

“I took the matter to social media and I was surprised to see how common it was that I got a great response.”

Nadia went on to say that it was a common practice in Pakistan to remain silent in matters that are related to sexual abuse and said that society was to blame.

She said that society did not deal with the issues openly and that awareness campaigns should be introduced.

Nadia Jamil went on to say: “If such a practice is common in society, then one must learn that society has a lot of rising psychological issues which need to be addressed.

“I would urge parents to stay with their kids all the time, don’t leave them alone. Most importantly, we need to educate people.”
