Pakistani stars came under fire for attending the International Pakistan Prestige Awards (IPPA) in Manchester.

The awards event saw the likes of Hiba Bukhari, Ayesha Omar, Ahsan Khan, Adnan Siddiqui and Sheheryar Munawar in attendance.

However, the IPPA event was not well received by fans.

Many took to social media to express their anger with the celebrities and organisers for allowing the ceremony to take place in light of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Ahsan Khan was particularly called out for dedicating his Best Actor award to the people of Palestine.

Many believed he was being pretentious and that his speech was merely an act.

After a video was shared of Ahsan accepting his award on Instagram, an angry social media user commented:

“They are picking body parts of their loved ones, how can this award give them peace?”

Another comment made was in criticism of the celebrities in which it was stated that no matter what worldly issues were taking place, Pakistani celebrities were always up for an awards show.

The comment read: “Shameless people.

“There are so many protests taking place in the world and these Pakistani celebrities are only interested in their singing and dancing.”

Another said: “Let us unfollow all the celebrities who attended the awards show.”

A third added: “You had your awards?! MTV Europe cancelled theirs, shame on you all!”

The outrage spread when the MTV Europe Music Awards were set to commence on November 5, 2023, but due to the Israel-Palestine conflict, it was cancelled.

A Paramount official stated:

“Events in Israel and Gaza continue to unfold. This does not feel like a moment for a global celebration.”

This is not the first time that Pakistani celebrities have been called out for their seemingly insensitive actions.

In 2022, Pakistan was laden with devastating floods which claimed the lives of many individuals and resulted in the loss of many homes and businesses.

There was a lot of anger towards the stars as they travelled to Canada for the HUM TV Awards.

Meanwhile, Hollywood star Angelina Jolie flew to Pakistan to give a helping hand in flood relief causes.

Individuals were disappointed and stated that the celebrities had no shame in travelling abroad to take part in the awards show when in fact they should have raised their voices and funds to help the people of Pakistan who suffered in the floods.
