“I mean, they are not insiders, they don’t know."
Richa Chadha said that she cannot take people in Bollywood seriously who have “zero credibility” and appear on news channel debates.
Richa added that it is “very opportunistic” of such celebrities to make appearances as news panellists.
Opening up about her opinion, Richa said:
“As far as polarisation in the film industry goes, I don’t know but I refuse to take seriously people who have zero credibility.
“I don’t want to name them here and give them more importance, because that’s actually what they thrive on.
“But the fact is, they have no credibility, they are the rejects of the system.
“They are what my friend Mini Mathur calls the scrapings from the bottom of the pan of Bollywood.”
The actress further said: “If they are going to gather together, appear on TV debates, froth at the mouth and try to be relevant, they should not be taken seriously.
“I mean, they are not insiders, they don’t know.
“They are the ones who stand outside a room and bark at you for not being included.
“They are holding grudges from 1952.
“That polarisation I would not be able to speak for, because I think it’s very opportunistic.”
Alongside her bold statements about Bollywood celebrities, Richa also spoke about her wedding plans. Richa is engaged to actor Ali Fazal.
The actress said that as soon as they start to talk about the wedding, Covid-19 disrupts their plans.
Richa said: “Now, I’m starting to think the waves have something to do with our planning.
“Every time we start getting things together, call the planner and you know.
“And once things open up, we jump into the work that we have pending.
“I suppose that’s why the wedding is delayed.
“But we definitely have plans in February or March maybe.”
Richa made her Bollywood debut in 2008 with the comedy film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!.
The Bollywood actress has also acted in films such as Masaan, Fukrey and Panga.
Richa was last seen in the Voot series Candy alongside Ronit Roy.
Richa will be making her debut as a film producer soon.
She, alongside Ali Fazal, will jointly produce Girls Will Be Girls under their production company Pushing Buttons Studios.
The film will revolve around a mother-daughter relationship and will be directed by Shuchi Talati.
Richa Chadha will also be seen in Fukrey 3 alongside her fiancé.
