"it’s someone else’s house and one can’t ask for it."
Momal Sheikh recently appeared as a guest on the FHM Podcast, hosted by Adnan Faisal, where she opened up about her financial struggles.
She revealed that she faced difficulties in the 26 years of her life, despite people believing otherwise.
Momal revealed that she hadn’t even obtained a passport until she was 22 years old.
While her friends were able to travel abroad, she couldn’t due to financial constraints.
Momal shared a relatable anecdote about her desire for Ferrero Rocher chocolates, which she would see at her friends’ houses but couldn’t ask for them.
She expressed her longing to have just one, highlighting the limitations she faced due to her family’s financial situation.
Momal said: “I loved Ferrero Rocher chocolate. I used to look at it in my friends’ houses with a desperate gaze.
“But of course, it’s someone else’s house and one can’t ask for it. I used to think of ways how I could eat just one of them.”
Adnan Faisal asked Momal about the perception that her life had been enjoyable because of her father’s fame.
Momal refuted this notion, explaining that there were times when their family couldn’t afford basic necessities.
She also mentioned a difficult period when she and her brother stood outside their school because they hadn’t paid their fees.
Adnan asked: “But Sheikh Sahab (Momal’s father) was there. Surely some money came from there?”
While her father’s status as a well-known figure in the industry was brought up, Momal said:
“If my father was cast in a film that didn’t do well at the box office, how would he send us money? He wouldn’t have it either, right?”
She emphasised that her family’s financial circumstances were not always easy.
However, she revealed that she had no regrets and credited their mother for ensuring they had a good time despite the challenges.
“I have no regrets. We have spent a good time, all thanks to our mother.”
Her fans appreciated her honesty and expressed their admiration, leaving positive comments.
One said: “Momal you are amazing and so inspiring.”
However, others left sarcastic comments, branding her struggles as “exaggerated”.
One user wrote: “This made me cry. How difficult it must have been to not eat an imported chocolate.”
Another commented: “Real struggle is we don’t even know that chocolate exists.”
One said: “She is trying so hard to be relatable.
