Married Indian Man kills Student he Wanted to Marry

A married Indian man, from Tamil Nadu, was arrested by police on Sunday, April 7, 2019, after he stabbed a college student who he wanted to marry.

The 27-year-old suspect, identified as Satish Kumar, wanted to marry Pragathi, aged 20. However, he allegedly murdered her in a fit of rage after her parents refused his proposal.

Pragathi was a second-year college student studying in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Kumar was already married and had been for three years, but had previously been in a relationship with the student according to Coimbatore police.

The suspect wanted to get married to Pragathi, but her parents were against it. He eventually got married to another woman.

Despite being married, Kumar continued to pressurise the victim’s family into letting the marriage go ahead, however, they continued to refuse his proposal.

When the suspect found out that the victim’s parents began to look for a suitable groom for her, he became angry and it led to Kumar allegedly murdering the young woman.

Inspector Vairam is investigating the case and said:

“The victim and Satish have been in touch even after he got married but she was planning on moving on and getting married herself. The accused did not want this to happen.

“So, before she left to Dindugal which is her hometown, he called her and they met. He then stabbed her in the neck with a knife and killed her.

Pragathi had got on a bus to her hometown on Friday, April 5, 2019, but never arrived.

Her parents filed a missing person’s complaint on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

In the evening, officers received reports that the body of a young woman has been found on the side of a road with a stab wound in her neck.

Police officers reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. One local identified the body as that of Pragathi. Her parents were informed and the body was sent to the hospital for an autopsy.

An investigating officer said:

“Even the parents did not suspect that Satish would have committed this murder.”

Kumar was arrested and an FIR was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. The suspect is still being interrogated in relation to the murder.

In another incident, a student in Pakistan went on the run after he murdered a school principal after she exposed his relationship with a teacher.

Rizwan was expelled for having an affair with the teacher and it led to him attacking the principal with a knife.
