"They put his body in a sack."
In a shocking incident in Lucknow’s Chinhat area, a delivery agent named Bharat Sahu was tragically murdered while delivering a new iPhone.
Aged 30, Bharat, who worked for Flipkart, was allegedly killed by a customer who had ordered the phone using the cash-on-delivery (COD) option.
According to police reports, Bharat Kumar was last seen on September 23, 2024.
This was when he left his home to carry out a delivery order for an iPhone valued at Rs. 1.5 lakhs (£1,350).
Bharat’s family grew concerned when he failed to return home for two consecutive days.
On September 25, 2024, his brother, Prem Kumar, filed a missing person report at the Chinhat police station. The police subsequently initiated an investigation.
They began by reviewing CCTV footage and analysing surveillance data in the area.
Their efforts led them to trace Gajanan’s phone number, which ultimately connected them to a person named Akash.
During interrogation, Akash confessed to the crime.
He stated that he and another man named Gajanan had murdered Bharat and disposed of his body in the canal.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) East, Shashank Singh, revealed:
“On September 23, delivery boy, Bharat Sahu of Nishatganj, went to deliver the phone at his place where he was killed by Gajanan and his accomplice.
“After strangulating Sahu, they put his body in a sack and disposed of it in the Indira Canal.”

The police have since engaged the State Disaster Response Force to assist in locating and recovering Bharat’s remains, which are still unaccounted for.
Prem Kumar, has been vocal in seeking justice for his brother, calling for stringent punishment for the accused.
He said: “My only demand is that the police should give such a punishment that serves as a lesson to them.”
Bharat Kumar had dedicated eight years of his life to working as a delivery agent.
The Lucknow incident has sparked discussions about the safety of delivery personnel, highlighting the vulnerabilities they face while fulfilling their duties.
Many in the community called for stronger protective measures and regulations to ensure the safety of those in similar professions.
