Another day and another enthralling display of fashion at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015.
Day two of Lakmé continued the buzz in Mumbai with high fashion and celebrity spotting.
Swati and Sunaina opened the extravaganza, and highlighted Indian textiles with their ‘Banaras Reinvented’ collection.
A fresh sight of warm colours greeted the audience, with emerald greens, soft yellows, and orange sarees.
Embracing the theme for Indian Handloom and Textile Day, Rinku Sobti put on a spectacular show, with Gauhar Khan modelling her final look.
The gorgeous star wore a woven long kurta, tassel crop top, and black silk embellished lehenga.
With an upbeat track playing simultaneously with the models’ walks, Rinku’s designs matched the loud and vibrant ramp.
Modern cuts, fitted silhouettes, and a fluorescent colour palette brought the show to life.
Drawing inspiration from the old age tradition of marionettes was designer, Divya Sheth, who maximised on bold colours and flowing silhouettes to create an ‘ethnic oomph’ look.
The amalgamation of prints somehow worked, and created a vibrantly beautiful aesthetic.
Real silver Gota and Dabka embroidery was worked into the garments, and added an essence of cultural charm to Sheth’s collection.
No fashion show would be complete without the presence of supermodel, Lisa Haydon, who walked the ramp for Swati Vijaivargie.
Influenced by the Mauj Dhurrie type of weaving, Swati’s collection, titled ‘Majul’, consisted of leftover waste threads and woven fabrics.
Lisa graced the stage in a colourful crop top, paired with a lightweight skirt that cascaded towards the front of her thighs.
Each avatar screamed ‘bohemian chic’, and awed the crowds with their creative flair.
Rahul n Shikha showcased their ‘A-Jharat’ collection, which comprised of steel blues, whites, navys, and red embroidery.
Long anarkalis and kurtas moulded a traditional feel to the designs, whilst the intricate detailing on the prints created an edgy look.
Ritu Kumar brought bridal grandeur to the forefront of the fashion stage.
The designer eased the audience into her ‘Varanasi Weaves’ collection, exhibiting an array of soft beige and white sarees, jurtas, and blouses.
Eventually, a palette of pinks, reds, golds, and pale blues filled the catwalk, where the vibrancy brought an energetic frenzy to the room.
Ritu presented a collection of timeless pieces, ranging from silk pieces to metallic motifs.
Aditi Rao Hydari sashayed down the runway in a hot pink saree, choli and gold churidar.
Closing the day’s proceeding was Anita Dongre’s ‘Grassroot’ label.
Dia Mirza introduced the highly anticipated show.
Focusing on block printing and stylishly chic ensembles, each apparel looked comfy and practical.
Printed peplum blouses, jackets, gowns, tunics, and kurtas were a snippet of the stunning collection, which the designer worked hard to create.
Earning herself a standing ovation, Anita brought out the 26 craftswomen from Gujarat to walk the ramp and receive praise. These were the true stars of the Lakmé evening, and it was a heart-warming sight for all.
With only a few more days left of Lakmé Fashion Week 2015, the fashion ante can only increase, and we can’t wait to see what other dazzling designs will appear on the runway.
