Kiara Advani addresses ‘Don 3’ Casting

Kiara Advani has spoken about her casting in Don 3. 

Directed by Farhan Akhtar, the film is the third instalment of the director’s popular Don series.

Don 3 will star Ranveer Singh as the titular character. The character was portrayed by Shah Rukh Khan in the previous two films.

On February 20, 2024, it was announced that Kiara would play the female lead in Don 3, thereby taking over the role from Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

Kiara Advani delved into her new film in more detail, highlighting her keenness for a change in her career.

She said: “I think it’s a conscious decision, I wanted to do something different.

“I wanted to change it up for myself, and this was one genre that I was longing to get myself into.

“And that’s what’s exciting, right?

“As an actor, you are constantly stepping into different characters and making the world believe that that’s who you are.

“There will be a tough prep for the film, but I’ve got time to do that.

“I’m very excited. I’ve never done an action movie so now’s my time to get some action in!”

When her inclusion in the project was initially confirmed, Kiara enthused:

“Thrilled to be part of the iconic Don franchise and to be working with this incredible team!

“Seeking all your love and support as we set out on this exciting journey together.”

According to Bollywood Hungama, producers want Don 3 to outshine its predecessors in terms of budget and scale.

A source stated: “Don 1 and Don 2 with Shah Rukh Khan were made on decent budgets but with Don 3, Farhan Akhtar aims to make a global film.

“The vision with Don 3 is not just to compete with action films of India, but also to go global on the scale front.

“Don 3 is Farhan’s attempt to make a global action thriller and no one better than Ranveer Singh to spearhead the franchise in the new era.

“The action has been visualised in a way that Don 3 stands tall against the Spy Universe.

“However, what separates Don 3 from other action films of India is the protagonist, who has shades of negative elements.”

Farhan’s Don series is in turn a reboot of the 1978 classic that starred Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role.

Zeenat Aman played the leading lady.

On August 8, 2023, Farhan announced that Shah Rukh would no longer appear in the Don series.

Confirming the presence of a new actor, Farhan added that he hoped audiences would show the same amount of love they did to Amitabh Bachchan and SRK.

Don 3 is scheduled to be released in 2025. It marks Farhan Akhtar’s return to direction after over 13 years.

Meanwhile, Kiara Advani will next be seen in The Game Changer and War 2.
