"I’ve lost my weight the right way."
Karan Johar has addressed ongoing rumours and concerns over his recent dramatic weight loss, putting speculation to rest during an Instagram Live session on April 17.
Social media users had previously questioned whether the filmmaker was using Ozempic.
Without naming Ozempic, Karan stated that his weight loss was not down to medication.
Instead, it was a response to a health issue identified in a routine blood test.
He said: “It started with me discovering… that I needed to correct my blood levels.”
Karan Johar reassured fans that his health has improved since making lifestyle changes.
He continued: “That’s a lot of work, and it’s not medication like the rumour suggests.
“I want to tell you I am in the pink of health. I’ve never felt happier, lighter on my feet.
“I’ve lost my weight the right way. I ideally wake up with a spring in my step, and I feel ready to work with new zest and zeal.
“So, yeah, I love it. Then it went on to me eating one meal a day, something I call ‘OMAD’.”
Karan Johar explained that while he is on medication for his health condition, the weight loss is mainly due to a strict one-meal-a-day diet.
He has also committed to regular physical activity, including swimming and playing paddleball.
This is not the first time Karan Johar has spoken publicly about his transformation.
At the IIFA Digital Awards, he said: “It’s being healthy. Eating well, exercising, and doing your best to look good.”
Karan’s comments come amid a wider public discussion about body image, especially among high-profile figures in the entertainment industry. He has previously been candid about his own struggles, revealing that he lives with body dysmorphia.
Karan revealed: “I have body dysmorphia, I am very awkward getting into a pool.
“I don’t know how to do it without feeling pathetic. I’ve tried very hard to overcome it.”
“No matter what success you achieve, no matter who you think you are in your own head, I’m always in oversized clothes.
“Even if I lose the weight, and I try very hard, I’m always battling with it, but I’m always feeling I’m fat. So I don’t want you to see any part of my body.”
