"It’s a very strong story for this time."

Speaking during film promotions in Kolkata, actress Jaya Ahsan opened up about her role in the upcoming psychological thriller, OCD.

She described the project as urgent, timely, and emotionally demanding.

Jaya explained her immediate emotional bond with the role, saying: “Shweta is a beautiful character, one I truly connected with.

“She stands up for children. There is a strong message at the heart of this story, and it’s told very powerfully.”

At its core, OCD functions as a psychological thriller examining how childhood trauma continues to echo across adult lives.

Jaya believes the film forces audiences to confront uncomfortable realities often ignored in everyday conversations.

She said: “If we fail to give children a healthy childhood, the damage can be immense.

“That’s what this film shows—how deeply such experiences can affect someone, even years later.

“It’s a very strong story for this time.”

While discussing her character’s psychological depth, Jaya disclosed: “The audience will slowly discover how layered Shweta’s life is.

“There are dark clouds in her mind—marks that never quite fade.”

The film also features Fazlur Rahman Babu, whose performance Jaya praised for its sincerity and emotional restraint.

She added that the Indian cast delivered equally compelling performances.

“Babu bhai has acted brilliantly in OCD. Everyone has done such sincere work, and the director has handled the story beautifully.”

Child artiste Arshiya Mukherjee, known to television audiences as Bhootu, plays Shweta’s younger self in the film.

Jaya credited the young actor for convincingly capturing emotional vulnerability, remarking:

“She has performed exceptionally well.”

Reflecting on the trailer’s strong reception, Jaya said its impact lies in emotional honesty rather than shock value.

“It clearly shows how bitter childhood experiences can shape, or even destroy, a person’s future.”

“That emotional impact is right there in the trailer.”

Currently in Kolkata for promotional activities, Jaya described her schedule as demanding but fulfilling.

“The promotions are in full swing—newspapers, television, everything.

“I truly believe this film will move audiences. I’m very hopeful.”

When asked about promoting the film without her co-star, she admitted missing Fazlur Rahman Babu.

She said with a smile: “Of course, I miss him.”

Beyond OCD, Jaya continues to receive recognition for her work across borders, including a recent award in Kolkata.

“Winning the award for the character Kusum means a great deal to me.”
