An Indian man was arrested for allegedly shooting his wife dead after she refused to have sex with him.
The accused is from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
In addition to allegedly killing his wife, he threw his three young children into a canal.
It was reported that the wife had refused to be physically intimate for the past 15 days.
The shocking incident happened in the village of Basedi on May 25, 2021.
The accused has been identified as 37-year-old Pappu Kumar.
According to the police, Pappu’s wife Doli had not had sex with him for 15 days. Despite his advances, she refused.
On the day of the incident, Pappu requested once again, but Doli refused.
In a fit of anger, he grabbed his gun and allegedly shot her, killing his wife instantly.
He then took his three children to the Ganga canal and threw them in.
The Indian man then fled the scene. Meanwhile, locals knew what he had done and informed the police.
Officers quickly located him and arrested him the next morning. It was reported that he was hiding in a forested area when he was arrested.
Following his arrest, Police said Pappu admitted killing his wife because she “refused to be physically intimate with him” for the past 15 days.
He then threw his children into the canal out of fear that he did not know what would happen to them.
An officer said: “The accused said that his wife was spreading his physical advances for the last 15 days, which made him angry.
“Pappu had warned his wife that he would kill her if she did not do it.”
“When she refused again on Tuesday, Pappu allegedly shot her in the head.
“After killing the wife, the accused was worried what would happen to their children so he killed them too.”
While it has not been confirmed, it is believed the three children are also dead.
Purkazi Police Station officer-in-charge Deshraj Singh said:
“The bodies have not been recovered from the canal yet.”
He has since been booked for murder.
Meanwhile, an investigation is ongoing to recover the bodies with the hope that the children are still alive.
It was also reported that Doli had originally been married to Pappu’s elder brother.
The pair got married in 2011. When he passed away, she married Pappu.
