The Indian girl was responsible for posting the obscene messages.
An Indian girl was arrested on Thursday, August 22, 2019, for sending a series of vulgar messages to another girl’s boyfriend.
The suspect was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir police. She had defamed the victim through a number of fake Facebook posts.
According to officers, the victim had been engaged to her boyfriend for a number of months before the messages started to appear.
The victim told officers that someone had created a fake Facebook profile in her name and that lewd and explicit messages had been posted on it.
Police officers were informed that the messages were sent to the victim’s fiancé.
A case was registered and the cyber cell assisted with the investigation. They managed to trace the Facebook account’s location and found it had been created by a girl within the district of Jammu.
The Indian girl was responsible for posting the obscene messages.
She was later arrested and a case was registered against her. According to Mid-Day, officers discovered that the culprit was a classmate of the victim.
There have been numerous cases of a person sending lewd messages to another, some more serious than others.
In February 2018, a lecturer at the University of Hull was caught sending explicit messages to an “underage girl”.
Sunil Shastri, aged 62, thought he had been speaking to a 13-year-old girl. However, he was actually speaking to a member of a paedophile vigilante group.
Known as ‘Guardians of the North’, the vigilantes had posted a name and number, belonging to the ‘girl’ online.
The lecturer soon contacted the ‘girl’ on WhatsApp and began sending several sexual messages.
He requested intimate images, such as the ‘girl’ in her underwear and private parts of her body. One of the messages read:
“Beautiful girl! Show me more please honey. You are a cheeky, naughty girl xxx.”
Shastri also talked about sexual acts, he had said he wanted to give the ‘girl’ a “cuddle and kiss”. He was also interested in meeting her:
“I would (meet you) but it’s dangerous. You are 13 and I’ll go to jail.”
The vigilante group passed on his details to the police and he was arrested.
Shastri pleaded guilty to attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
At York Crown Court, Recorder John Thackery sentenced him to four years in prison, suspended for two years.
Shastri was ordered to undergo 10 days of rehabilitation and will follow a sex offenders’ treatment programme. He was also told to sign the sex offenders’ register for seven years.
