Imran Abbas has voiced his disapproval of renowned writer and filmmaker Nasir Adeeb’s controversial comments about Reema Khan.

During a podcast, Nasir recalled a story from the early days of his career.

He and director Younis Malik were scouting for new talent for a film they planned to produce.

The film, which was to star established actor Ghulam Mohiuddin, required the casting of two new heroines.

In an attempt to find fresh faces, Younis suggested they explore unconventional options, including visiting Lahore’s red-light district Heera Mandi.

Nasir Adeeb recalled how the two were warmly welcomed there, with the mother of one girl they were considering serving them tea.

The woman boasted about her daughter’s potential. Despite the mother’s praise, Nasir Adeeb and Younis Malik decided not to cast the girl.

He later revealed that the girl in question was none other than Reema Khan, who went on to become one of Pakistan’s most celebrated actresses.

Nasir claimed he rejected Reema at the time because he did not find her eyes expressive enough to match her sweet voice.

However, he acknowledged her eventual success, attributing it to her hard work and dedication.

These comments sparked outrage, with many criticising Nasir for bringing up Reema’s past.

Among those who spoke out was Imran Abbas, who appeared to express his disappointment over the situation.

In a post, Imran condemned the growing trend of bringing up actors’ pasts to tarnish their reputations.

Imran said: “It’s shameful how individuals, writers, and self-proclaimed intellectuals connected to the industry continue to dig up actors’ pasts and bring forward stories that can harm their current reputation,

“Especially for those who have moved on to a new life outside the industry and don’t wish to revisit their past.

“Sensationalising past stories can negatively affect people’s lives.”

“Unfortunately, we live in an era where people thrive on spreading negativity and earn a living through such practices.”

Although Imran Abbas did not directly name anyone, many of his fans believed he was responding to Nasir Adeeb’s anecdote.

Imran Abbas’ stance has been widely appreciated as it highlights a significant issue in the entertainment industry.

His friendship with Reema Khan remains strong, and the two actors continue to stand by each other through various challenges.
