Bollywood stars, who have enjoyed a tremendous 2019 with numerous films, celebrations, awards and more, have now moved into 2020 with a big bang.
The who’s who of Bollywood celebrated New Years in their own ways.
Some of the stars went abroad to lavish destinations, while others stayed at home in India.
Bollywood stars took time out from their holiday season to hop onto their social media to wish their fans a happy new year.
We explore how several Bollywood celebrities have started the year 2020.
Ananya Panday
Bollywood star Ananya Pandey made the decision to remain in India for her new year’s celebrations.
The actress welcomed 2020 with her close friends, Aryan Khan, Suhana Khan amongst others at Shah Rukh Khan’s Alibaug Farmhouse.
Ananya shared a sweet picture on Instagram with her close friends as they were visibly celebrating the joyous moment together.
She captioned the photo saying: “New Year, no new friends #2020 #family.”
In another picture from the farmhouse, Ananya is sat with her friends, a large adorable dog and Suhana’s little brother, Abram Khan.
Ananya also shared another picture of herself sitting on a giant inflatable unicorn in the pool. She wrote: “It’s all rainbows and unicorns for me.”
From a work front perspective, the actress ended 2019 with her last day on the set of her upcoming film Khaali Peeli (2020) with Ishaan Khatter.
Fans of Ananya are certainly excited to see the star grace the screen once again in 2020.
Deepika Padukone
Deepika Padukone is gearing towards the release of her upcoming film, Chhapaak that is due to come out on January 10, 2020.
In true Punjabi style, this Bollywood star started new years by dancing in a car along with her co-star Vikrant Massey.
Amidst the busy promotion schedule for the film, Deepika took out time to shake a leg in her film’s avatar.
She went on Instagram to share the video with her followers. She captioned it:
“Welcoming the New Year like … (with my partner in crime) … #chhapaak #10thjanuary.”

Deepika is also set to feature in the biopic film, 83 (2020) alongside her husband Ranveer Singh.
We hope Deepika continues the year 2020 the same way she began it, with a large smile and dance.
Disha Patani’s New Year
Bollywood star Disha Patani, who is also Instagram famous had fans eagerly waiting for her to post snippets of her life on social media.
Disha had bid goodbye to 2019 and said hello to 2020 in Japan. The actress took to Instagram to share pictures of herself from her hotel room.
She was seen wearing a white laced bodice that perfectly framed her slender figure.
Disha paired the bodice with high-waisted distressed denim jeans and black knee-high boots.
Her messy blow-dried hair added to the sexy glamour of her ensemble. She captioned the photos: “Happy new year to everyone, may god bless all with love.”
It seems Disha Patani celebrated new years alone this year. Allegedly in 2019, she was reported to be in the Maldives with her rumoured boyfriend Tiger Shroff and his family.
This has got fans and media curious whether the pair have parted ways and if Disha has entered 2020 as newly single.
Happy New Year from Alia Bhatt
Bollywood A-lister Alia Bhatt started 2020 with her boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor on holiday at an undisclosed beach destination.
Alia shared a striking picture of herself with her head raised to the warm sun, with the blue sea in the background. She wrote: “The light is coming in 2020.”
Her sister commented under the picture saying: “My sunshine.” Numerous Instagram fans went onto wish the star a happy new year.
Alia also shared a boomerang video on Instagram of the waves hitting her feet as she wished her followers a “Happy New Year.”
Kareena-Saif, Anushka-Virat & Varun-Natasha
These three couples were spotted ringing in 2020 together in Switzerland. This star-studded group looked stylish as they celebrated the new years.
Along with the photo of the three couples from the new year’s party, Anushka took to Instagram to wish her fans a “happy new year.”
Her husband, Indian cricket team captain, Virat Kohli uploaded a picture of the couple on his Instagram.
He can be seen looking suave in a black tuxedo. Anushka looked stunning in an all-embellished dress. Virat captioned the image: “On point for 2020.”
Chiming in on the wishes, Varun Dhawan shared a cute picture of himself with his girlfriend Natasha.
He captioned the image, writing:
“Let there be snow wishing everyone out there a very happy new year 2020.”
Kareena Kapoor also shared pictures with her husband Saif Ali Khan and their son Taimur.
Kareena looked sensational in an elegant white gown, while Saif looked dapper in a black tuxedo. She wrote: “#happynewyear”.
