"I do have plans to get married.”

Hareem Farooq appeared on the latest episode of Gup Shab and spoke to Vasay Chaudhary about her marriage plans.

Panellist Qaiser Piya asked Hareem if she had plans to get married.

Hareem replied: “I believe that I might be getting married soon.

“Only Allah knows exactly when but I do have plans to get married.”

She was then asked what qualities she was looking for in a partner and Hareem said:

“He needs to have a good heart and kindness is very important. He needs to be loyal.

“How a person behaves with people around him with no expectations in return is very important.”

Members of the audience were allowed to ask Hareem questions, and one individual asked her why she didn’t appear in more movies.

Hareem explained that while making films in Pakistan was a difficult process, she was working on it.

She was then asked who inspired her to join the showbiz industry.

Hareem answered: “I was inspired by Madam Noor Jehan. My grandfather was a big fan and I remember when I was very young I watched Anarkali.

“I remember one frame in which she looked beautiful, her expressions were amazing, and I thought I could do something like this.

“So for a very long time, I followed Madam Noor Jehan and I really looked up to her.”

In a previous interview with Fuchsia Magazine, Hareem Farooq had opened up about her struggles and revealed that she refused help from her father, even though she admitted she came from a “privileged background”.

Sharing details about that time in her life, Hareem said her father had offered to send her abroad so that she could partake in higher education, but she refused.

“I said no. I am going to go through my struggles alone. I am going to make a name for myself and I am going to make you proud.”

She recalled moving to Karachi for work and had no water or electricity, because of which she would secretly bathe on the sets of her drama.

“One day when it was really hot, I cried my eyes out wondering whether my dream of acting was worth it.”

“I did not have my family, no real friends and there was always gossip. There were a lot of opinions around me and everyone would say all kinds of things.

“You have to end up fighting all of that. There comes a day when you want to just give up and feel like it’s not worth it.

“But I would tell myself to wipe my tears and get back up. I would take my dirty clothes out of a pile on the floor, iron them on set and get on with it. I wanted to pursue my passion.

“As a woman, I was not going to let anything stop me. No matter how privileged or unprivileged you are, you make your own destiny.”
