OnlyFans marketing head Amrapali Gan has taken over as CEO of the platform after founder Tim Stokely stepped down.

Mr Stokely, who founded the subscription platform for adult content creators in 2016, congratulated Ms Gan in a social media post.

In a statement, Mr Stokely did not say what he planned to do after stepping down but said he would be pursuing “new endeavours”.

He said: “I have taken the decision to step down from my position as CEO of Fenix International to focus on my next challenge.

“In 2016, I launched the platform OnlyFans.com.

“Working from my brother’s kitchen table, it would have been impossible to dream of what we achieved.

“I’d like to thank all of my colleagues, but the most important thank you is to all of the content creators… you made OnlyFans what it is today.

“I would like to congratulate my successor, Ami who has a deep passion for OnlyFans.

“I’m passing the baton on to a colleague and a friend, who has the vision and drive to help the organisation reach tremendous potential.

“Looking forward to 2022, I’m excited for what’s coming. But in the meantime, I’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”

New CEO Amrapali Gan said: “I am proud to assume this role.

“I look forward to continuing to work closely with our creator community to help them maximise control over, and monetise their content.

“We are committed to being the safest social media platform in the world.”

Mr Stokely had spent five years in charge of OnlyFans, taking it from launch to a site with 180 million registered users worldwide.

During that period, it paid out over £3.7 billion to its content creators.

OnlyFans said Ms Gan had been appointed “to continue the company’s growth and drive its vision and commitment to empowering creators”.

Ms Gan said the company would increase its investment in its free streaming app, OFTV, and introduce new tools for creators.

Ms Gan joined OnlyFans in 2020 after working for Red Bull, Quest Nutrition and a Los Angeles-based cannabis café.

OnlyFans is best known for allowing creators to charge for sexually explicit photos and videos.

But following pressure from banking partners, the site announced that all sexually explicit content would be banned from October 2021.

This sparked controversy and the platform reversed its decision just five days later.
