"I don’t want to work where there’s no respect."

Alizeh Shah shared her experiences of mistreatment in the entertainment industry in a recent social media video.

Alizeh revealed that delayed payments and toxic work culture were major reasons she stepped away from television dramas.

According to her, actors often wait three to four months for payments, despite working long, gruelling hours.

She said: “An actor’s life is tough. We have to beg people to find out what happened to our checks.

“When the check finally arrives, it feels like someone is doing us a favour.”

She described approaching producers to ask for her money, only to be met with arrogance.

Alizeh disclosed: “When I told them I have to run my home, they responded with, ‘We’re already doing enough for you to get by’.

“Keep your favours to yourself. I don’t want to work where there’s no respect.”

Alizeh said she faced calculated online backlash when she spoke up, including being targeted by paid pages and memes.

The actress revealed: “In meetings, I was disrespected. All I want is respect and timely payment.

“If you can’t provide that, there’s no bigger beggar than you in this industry.”

She also criticised the producers who, in her words, profit off actors while denying them basic dignity.

“You people are building grand palaces by eating into actors’ money, but those will crumble one day.”

The video quickly gained traction and sparked mixed reactions online.

Some users accused Alizeh of playing the victim, questioning her foreign trips and past behaviour.

One commented: “You are disrespected because you disrespect others.”

Another added: “Stop putting everything on not getting payments.”

Alizeh Shah also addressed her past controversy involving Minsa Malik.

She denied allegations that she slapped her co-star for throwing a cigarette at her during the filming of Mohabbat ki Akhri Kahani.

She explained: “Also, I wanna mention that girl who said that I slapped her and threw a cigarette on her. It was a blatant lie.

“Yeah, I smoke on set, but I never went out of the make-up room with cigarettes. She had the guts to accuse me and pushed me in the scene.

“We were recording, so we saw the whole video. There was nothing in the recording. I went into the room where she was sitting, Sami was there too.

“I threw my sandal at her, because all I could do was that.”

She added that basic working conditions on sets are far from ideal.

Alizeh said:

“There are no cars for the actors. There is no professionalism in this industry.”

“Yes, people do smoke. It’s not about my problems. Actors deserve basic respect.”

Her frustration echoed sentiments recently voiced by Syed Mohammad Ahmed, who also spoke about unpaid dues.

Alizeh Shah insisted she will only return to acting when respect is assured.
