It is reported that Alibaba: Dastaan-e-Kabul will continue but will not have a new actress taking on Tunisha Sharma’s role.

Tunisha tragically took her own life while on the show’s set and her mother later claimed that her co-star Sheezan Khan was the reason why Tunisha took the extreme step.

The pair were reportedly dating but later split up.

A short while later, rumours began circulating that Alibaba: Dastaan-e-Kabul would be cancelled.

It is reported that the show will go on, however, it will not replace Tunisha with another actress to take on her role.

Instead, there will be a new lead pair of characters and there will be a focus on new storylines.

A channel official told ETimes: “The show is definitely not going off-air. It will continue.”

The show is currently being filmed three kilometres away from the original set.

One cast member said: “It is not easy to shoot post the tragedy, but life has to go on, and we are glad that the production house and channel have decided to continue with the show.”

Tunisha Sharma’s mother Vanita had claimed that Sheezan used to beat her.

But at a press conference, Sheezan’s sister Falaq Naaz accused Vanita of “neglecting” Tunisha and said that her depression was due to her childhood trauma.

Sheezan’s family also claimed that Tunisha’s family used to control her finances.

Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) sent a notice to the producers of the show – Alind Shrivastava and Nissar Parvez, claiming gross negligence.

The letter read: “The cases of suicidal deaths of the young actors and actresses are increasing and such deaths could have been avoided if the producers keep an eye on such things happening on the sites.

“All the crew members are hired by the producers for his project and hence it is the responsibility of the producers to look after the well-being, safety and security of the crew members.

“FWICE strongly demands action on the producers of the show Alibaba: Dastaan-e-Kabul as the liability of the safety, security of all the crew members depends upon them.

“Any conspiracy against any crew members should have been traced by the producers and taken immediate action against the erring members.

“However, the producers are only interested in earning good money with the popularity of the show due to the lead actors and actresses who are followed by the public at large.”
