"That’s not my legacy to own."

Agastya Nanda continues to navigate Bollywood under intense public scrutiny as the grandson of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan.

With Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also shaping Hindi cinema, expectations surrounding Agastya’s acting career have remained exceptionally high since his debut.

Agastya began his journey with The Archies, which was released on OTT platforms in 2023 but failed to leave a strong impression on audiences.

The lukewarm response meant his second project became crucial in determining how the industry and viewers would perceive him as an actor.

That opportunity arrived with Ikkis, which marked Agastya’s theatrical debut and allowed him to step into a far more demanding and emotionally charged role.

In the film, he portrayed Param Vir Chakra awardee Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, earning praise for a sincere and grounded performance.

The portrayal helped Agastya connect with movie lovers, prompting renewed discussion about whether his celebrated family legacy added pressure behind the scenes.

In a recent chat with IMDb following the release of Ikkis, Agastya directly addressed assumptions surrounding the Bachchan legacy.

Agastya, fondly called Aggy, said, “I don’t take that pressure in the slightest because I know that’s not my legacy to own.”

He explained that his identity begins with his father, saying his surname is Nanda because he is his father’s son first.

Agastya added, “I focus on making him proud, and that’s a legacy I carry very heavily on me.”

Reflecting on his extended family, he said he deeply admires their contributions to cinema and loves their work.

However, Agastya admitted, “I don’t think I can ever be them. So, it’s not even worth spending time trying to think of it.”

Opening up about filming Ikkis, Agastya revealed the production process was far from predictable.

He shared, “I think everything was chaotic and unexpected, to be honest.”

Agastya added, “I can’t think of one schedule or moment we had which was expected or calm.”

Beyond being Agastya’s theatrical debut, Ikkis also marked the acting debut of Simar Bhatia, niece of Akshay Kumar.

The film carries added emotional weight as it marks the final on-screen appearance of Bollywood legend Dharmendra.

Dharmendra, fondly known as Dharam Paaji, passed away at 89 on November 24, 2025.

In Ikkis, the veteran actor portrayed Agastya’s onscreen father, creating a poignant cinematic connection between generations.

For Agastya Nanda, the film represents more than a performance, signalling his determination to build an identity beyond inherited expectations.
