Aziz never repaid the loan
Zakia Kamal Moon has initiated legal proceedings against Abdul Aziz, CEO of Jaaz Multimedia, over an unpaid loan of TK 60 lakh (£39,000).
A court issued an arrest warrant for Aziz after he repeatedly failed to repay the debt.
Moon’s lawsuit stems from a written agreement made in February 2022.
She lent Aziz the money to support the production of Paap, her debut film in Dhallywood, released in 2023.
According to the agreement, Aziz was responsible for managing the project and providing Moon with complete financial records after filming concluded.
Despite completing Paap in March 2022, Aziz never repaid the loan or shared any financial statements with Moon.
After sending multiple legal notices through her lawyer, Moon found that Aziz continued to ignore her requests.
In a troubling turn, it was reported that Aziz sold Paap to an OTT platform without informing Moon or obtaining her approval.
As tensions escalated, Moon claimed Aziz threatened to damage her career if she pursued the matter further.
Moon stated: “He not only refused to give me my money back but also warned other producers against casting me.”
This intimidation has significantly affected her professional opportunities.
The lawsuit also highlights that Moon was slated to star in Paap 2 and another Jaaz project titled Billboard Sundori.
Both projects have since been cancelled, severely impacting her career and finances.
Moon’s legal team has pursued criminal charges against Aziz, citing breach of trust and contract violations.
These offences are punishable under sections 406, 420, and 506 of the Penal Code.
Following an investigation by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), the court accepted their findings, leading to the arrest warrant.
Further complicating Aziz’s situation, Zakia Kamal Moon revealed that she had invested in other Jaaz projects.
She mentioned that Paap 2 was expected to be released this Eid-ul-Azha, with filming set to begin in November 2024.
However, Aziz has reportedly gone silent regarding the project’s status.
When pressed for repayment, he claimed ongoing lawsuits prevented him from settling his debts.
Abdul Aziz, who founded Jaaz Multimedia in 2012 with the film Bhalobashar Rong, now faces multiple financial controversies.
He is listed as a loan defaulter and is under investigation for embezzlement and money laundering.
Several lawsuits have been filed against him by Janata Bank, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate, and the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
