Birmingham Repertory Theatre (The REP) in association with DESIblitz bring you the wonderful chance to watch the critically acclaimed play, 946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips on Saturday 15th October 2016.
This heart-warming musical about family, love and friendship is based on critically-acclaimed author Michael Morpurgo’s novel, The Amazing Story Of Adolphus Tips.
It follows the journey of 12-year-old Lily who lives in Slapton Sands in Devon. The year is 1944 and American troops are preparing to occupy Lily’s home and use it as a training ground.
Amidst all this chaos and commotion, Lily, loses Tips, her treasured cat. She is left pining after her absent father who is currently in France and has to learn to share her lessons with evacuees from London.
946: The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips is an Uplifting Musical Adventure
The Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips will leave you with an array of emotions. It combines humour, music, dance, drama, romance, and loss all rolled into an uplifting story about life during the second world war.
Director Emma Rice and the Kneehigh cast and composer use an intricate mix of props and theatrics to bring Morpurgo’s creation to life. Puppetry features throughout the show and the actors must be applauded for mastering the craft in addition to acting, singing and dancing.
The play will mesmerise you from the get go, and the soulful Blues band will keep families entertained throughout.

While Katy Owen must be commended on her brilliant performance of Lily Tregenza, special mentions must go to the incredibly talented Ncuti Gatwa and Nandi Bhebhe who play American soldiers, Adi and Harry. They are a delight on stage.
