"I had the best Indian food of my life last night!”
When a pop-rock star like Yungblud chooses a curry house like Asha’s not once, not twice, but three times, you start to realise there’s something special about the place.
On July 2, 2025, the English singer/songwriter was spotted again at Asha’s, the Michelin Guide-approved Indian restaurant on Newhall Street in Birmingham.
It’s his third visit, even though he’s not performing in the city until April 2026.
Maybe he just loves a curry?
Asha’s team took to Facebook to celebrate the occasion:
“We were delighted to welcome Yungblud to Asha’s Birmingham for the THIRD time, last night!”
“It was a joy to serve one of the UK’s most exciting musical talents.
“And what a pleasure to know how much he enjoys our tasty Indian cuisine, here in the heart of Birmingham! We look forward to welcoming you back again soon…”
And Yungblud isn’t the only one who’s made a beeline for Birmingham’s best-known Indian.
Over the last few years, the city-centre hotspot has quietly become a magnet for global A-listers, all drawn to its refined take on subcontinental food, its warm hospitality, and its perfect blend of high-end and down-to-earth.
A List That Just Keeps Growing

If Yungblud’s third visit wasn’t convincing enough, consider the roll call.
On May 6, 2024, Hollywood legend Jack Black was spotted at Asha’s.
In June 2023, Pink also dropped by before her Villa Park show, where she told thousands of fans mid-performance: “We’re having so much fun. I had the best Indian food of my life last night!”
Even Tom Cruise took time out from filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning to sit down for a meal.
Not only did he turn heads by sitting among the crowd, but he also ordered two chicken tikkas.
From John Malkovich to Amir Khan, Steven Gerrard to Cliff Richard, and even The Rolling Stones, the list of famous faces who’ve dined here reads like a who’s who of film, sport and music.
Birmingham’s Curry Capital Status on a Plate

What makes Asha’s stand out in a city known for its vibrant South Asian food scene?
Well, Birmingham’s curry culture is legendary, and Asha’s represents its more elegant, cosmopolitan side.
The Michelin Guide describes the venue as “a stylish, passionately run Indian restaurant with exotic décor”.
But the praise isn’t just about the setting. It’s about the menu, an expertly curated offering that spans the Indian subcontinent.
Whether it’s Chandni Chowk Ka Kheema, a homage to Delhi’s backstreets, or Muscat Gosht, rich with Arabian influence, the dishes are as varied as they are authentic.
Classics like Lamb Saffron Biryani and Tandoori Kebabs are staples, but it’s the careful attention to detail that sets them apart.
For a city that lives and breathes spice, Asha’s is a proud flag-bearer.
The Asha Bhosle Effect

Another reason for the restaurant’s star pull? The woman behind the name: Asha Bhosle.
A household icon in India, Bhosle is not just a Bollywood legend with thousands of recorded songs, but also a culinary entrepreneur.
She brings more than just brand recognition to the table.
Her understanding of Indian food, and of the lifestyles and preferences of celebrities, is a unique selling point.
When the name above the door belongs to someone with that level of fame, you can bet the hospitality is tailored to suit a VIP clientele.
It’s not hard to imagine why A-listers feel comfortable here. There’s an unspoken promise that their privacy will be respected, their food will be flawless, and they won’t leave disappointed.
Dining Like a Star, or Beside One

Privacy is another key part of Asha’s appeal. With exclusive dining booths and private rooms, it’s built for discretion.
Jaykae, Ed Sheeran, and others have all made use of the secluded spaces.
But the layout also allows for spontaneity. Tom Cruise famously sat out in the open, adding an unexpected thrill for the diners around him.
That balance, exclusive but accessible, is what keeps Asha’s unique.
It’s not a place where celebrities hide. It’s a place where they can enjoy a meal in peace, surrounded by Brummie hospitality and bold flavours.
What Asha’s has built goes beyond food or fame.
It’s a place that represents Birmingham on the global stage, and it does so proudly, without compromising authenticity.
Locals love it because it serves top-tier Indian food without fuss. Tourists seek it out because it feels like a slice of something special. And celebrities? Well, they keep coming back.
Whether it’s for the tikkas, the biryanis or just a night away from the limelight, Asha’s seems to have cracked the code.
As long as it keeps doing what it does best, don’t be surprised if the next famous face spotted inside is even bigger than Tom Cruise.
