Actor Vicky Kaushal has shared a new look from his upcoming film Sardar Udham.

Vicky Kaushal will be seen in the role of Sardar Udham Singh.

Sardar Udham Singh was a patriot who was on a mission to avenge the lives of those killed in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre of 1919.

The incident took place on April 13, 1919, in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar.

The massacre deeply impacted Sardar Udham Singh and he pledged to avenge the death of his fellow countrymen.

Vicky shared a new look from the film, where he seems to be braving the cold weather with his 9.7 million followers.

Vicky can be seen wearing a thick, brown coat with a furry hat.

The new look dates back to 1933 when Udham Singh was spotted in Eastern Europe.

In the caption, Vicky wrote:

On March 13, 1940, Sardar Udham Singh shot Michael O’Dwyer, the former lieutenant governor of the Punjab in India.

During his imprisonment, he held a 36-day hunger strike to convey a message to the three major religions of India to fight for their freedom as one.

While in custody, he identified himself as ‘Ram Mohammad Singh Azad’ showcasing his belief in unity.

Donned as a prisoner, Vicky also shared a photo on Instagram on October 7, 2021, in which the actor looked unrecognisable.

Vicky can be seen with grey hair, scars on his face and unclean white prison clothes.

The actor wrote in the caption:

“1931, Prison, India.

“Udham Singh was in prison for possession of prohibited paper ‘Ghadr-i-Gunj’ (Voice of Revolt).

“He was released later but under constant surveillance.

“Soon, he escaped to Europe and never got to return to India.”

Speaking about this role as Sardar Udham Singh, Vicky said:

“The story of Udham Singh is one that enthralled and inspired me.”

“It represents the strength, pain, passion, extraordinary courage and sacrifice, and many such values that I have tried to do justice through my character in the film.

“The role called for a lot of physical, and even more mental preparation to get into Udham Singh’s shoes and bring to life the story of a man whose heroism and grit stand unmatched.”

Vicky stars alongside Shaun Scott, Stephen Hogan, Banita Sandhu and Kirsty Averton.

Amol Parashar also makes a special appearance.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by Ronnie Lahiri, Sardar Udham will stream on Amazon Prime Video on October 16, 2021.
