"This was an exceptionally brutal attack"
Three men have been jailed for subjecting their victim to a brutal kidnapping.
Wolverhampton Crown Court heard that on November 25, 2023, Mohammed Jamil, Mohammed Saadh and Idris Ahmed bundled the man into a Seat Leon over an alleged debt.
They then drove to a banqueting suite in Smethwick.
Once there, the victim was stripped naked and beaten.
The man was also burnt with cigarettes and beaten with a metal pole during the ordeal.
The victim, who is in his 40s, was eventually released and a police investigation was launched.
Jamil, Saadh and Ahmed were all arrested.
The trio pleaded guilty to kidnap on July 26, 2024.
Jamil and Saadh were each jailed for five years and three months.
Ahmed was sentenced to four years and six months in prison.
Detective Sergeant Craig Ryder from the West Midlands Police Major Crime Team said:
“This was an exceptionally brutal attack which left the victim with nasty injuries, from which he has fortunately recovered, although the mental scars will last much longer.
“I hope the conviction of his assailants brings some closure to his ordeal.”
A spokesperson for the force added: “Three men have been jailed for a total of 15 years after another man was kidnapped and assaulted in Smethwick last year.
“The man, in his 40s, was bundled into a Seat Leon by three men in the early hours of 25 November and driven to a banqueting suite in Smethwick.
“The man was held there for several hours where he was stripped naked, repeatedly assaulted, burnt with cigarettes and beaten with a metal pole, all over an alleged debt.
“Eventually the man was released and an investigation was launched.”
“In January, we carried out warrants in the banqueting suite in Smethwick, where property was recovered, and Walsall where we arrested two suspects.
“This led to a third arrest five days later.
“And on Friday (26 July) Mohammed Jamil, aged 39 of no fixed address, and Mohammed Saadh, aged 23 of Chipperfield Road, Birmingham, were jailed for five years and three months each.
“Idris Ahmed, aged 28 of Wellington Street, Smethwick, was jailed for four years and six months.
“All three pleaded guilty to kidnap at Wolverhampton Crown Court.”
