"Sunny Deol is not prioritising its shoot right now."
Sunny Deol has several interesting projects coming up, including Lahore 1947 and Border 2.
However, while it was assumed that Lahore 1947 would be released first, the actor has allegedly chosen a different route.
This decision reportedly comes amid the tension between Pakistan and India.
Sunny has apparently prioritised the sequel to his 1997 blockbuster Border over Lahore 1947, as Border 2 is said to have a stronger patriotic angle towards India.
A source said: “Some 15 days of patchwork shoot of Lahore 1947 is pending.
“However, Sunny Deol is not prioritising its shoot right now.
“He loves the subject of the film but fears that in today’s times, when Pakistan is seen as a big enemy and is trying to destroy our civilian areas, this film and its message might be misinterpreted by vested interests.
“Hence, he is avoiding shooting for it. Sunny Deol will probably prefer that Border 2 releases first.
“It’ll feature him fighting the Pakistani army, and it will be the apt film to be out as it will be in sync with the overall mood of the nation.
“He would then want Lahore 1947 to be out.”
In a recent interview, when Sunny was questioned about Lahore 1947, he had replied: “That film is definitely coming.
“What happened is, I had started that film earlier. A large part of the shooting is already complete.”
Lahore 1947 stars Sunny along with Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol.
It is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan.
Aamir will reportedly also have a role in the film, marking the first time he will share the screen with Sunny Deol.
The pair were supposed to star together in Yash Chopra’s Darr (1993), but following creative differences, Aamir was replaced with Shah Rukh Khan in the film.
Meanwhile, Border 2 is helmed by Anurag Singh and will feature Sunny alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.
The unrest between India and Pakistan came following the horrific 2025 Pahalgam incident.
However, on May 10, 2025, it was reported that India and Pakistan had agreed to a ceasefire.
US President Donald Trump said: “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.
“Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great intelligence.”
On the work front, Sunny Deol was last seen in Jaat (2025), to which a sequel was recently confirmed.
He will also star as Hanuman in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan saga.
