Prints are bold, whilst embellishments are striking

With colours, prints, and embellishments, London is always a melting pot of innovative fashion!

London Fashion Week (LFW) welcomed many talented designers and their original concepts for spring/summer 2017.

Everything is sharp and bright. Prints are bold, whilst embellishments are striking. Designed carefully, each ensemble is then styled to provide an eye-catching entrance on the runway.

Here are the designers and trends that DESIblitz loved from London Fashion Week SS17.

Apu Jan

London Fashion Week Sprin/Summer 2017 Apu Jan

The Taiwanese fashion designer, Apu Jan, makes a fantastic appearance at LFW with his SS17 collection. He constructs his pieces by blending muted colour palettes, blue and black. Focusing on clean lines, simplicity, yet conveying sophistication.

The collection expresses comfort, featuring minimal outfits, accessorised with woollen scarfs, knitted winter and bluebell summer hats.

Scarves, in beige and green, look warm, yet stylish. And, the hats appear embroidered in funky shapes.

Long length tunics illustrate a look full of feminine flair. Crisp collars and belted waists give the elegant tunics a modern touch.

Apu’s careful marriage of winter elements with a spring/summer twist makes his collection suitable for all year around.

A truly ready to wear brand!

Ashley Isham

London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 Ashley Isham

Another striking designer, Ashley Isham, introduces clashing combinations.

His collection appears mixes beach comfort with club elements, yet balanced with intricate women’s couture pieces.

His runway background is littered with bright pink inflatable pool toys, giving the illusion of a poolside beach party, which includes a disco!

Isham gives the menswear line a real funky appearance. Floral prints combined with shorts and baseball caps. The look is then finished with large faux pom-pom earrings, in vibrant colours. It seems that the aim was to express gender stereotypes, through colours and prints which are often female associated.

This vibrancy is seen balanced by a refreshing look in Isham’s womenswear, with more muted pieces.

Floor length gowns are filled with stunning details and embellishments. We also see models dressed smartly, in trousers and tops. Yet, that smartness is beautified with a splash of colour, using pom-pom accessories.

Truely statement designer pieces!

INIFD

London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2017 INIFD

The collection presented by INIFD, an international fashion and design college, introduces creative designs by eight diverse students.

The college students showcase a variety of styles, experimenting with a wide range of fabrics.

One design offers sari-inspired two pieces wrapped around a mini pleated skirt. This provides modern outfits with a Desi shape.

A stylish floor-sweeping navy gown, with gold glitter front panels, makes an elegant statement.

To add a quirky element, one designer positions the saying: “Dekho magar pyaar say,” in bright yellow, on the pocket side of a red short jumpsuit.

More challenging materials, like leather, creatively feature colourful divided panels. The fitted leather dresses, jackets and skirts have a feminine appeal.

Nivedita Saboo

House of MEA (The Middle East & Asia) gives prominence to international designers from Asia. Nivedita Saboo has dressed some of the biggest Bollywood stars around, including Karishma Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Her luxury tailored clothes perfectly represent evening chic and glamour with tailored dinner suits and sherwani inspired jackets. Her exquisite ladieswear sees flowing evening gowns with bold cuts and intricate patterning.

The levels of creativity of these established and upcoming designers are truly outstanding!

Each piece from London Fashion Week starts a unique conversation. Accessorised with an array of mismatched add-ons, we experience unusual combinations.

With key elements and wonderful ideas, London Fashion Week has taken over the fashion world, and Spring/Summer 2017 promises lots of funky patterns and colour for your wardrobe.
