Under the Sitars set for a Night of Bollywood and Pakistani twists

Ever wondered how Madonna's famous songs would sound with a Pakistani twist?

Spend a Friday evening listening to the harmonious sounds of Indian and Pakistani music as Adil Ray and CBSO present ‘Under the Sitars’ featuring Citizen Khan‘s titular character.

The East meets West concert will take place in Birmingham’s iconic Symphony Hall on 19th May 2017.

The musical performance will feature an array of Indian and Pakistani songs, as musicians use classical instruments. These include the tabla, dholak and dhol.

Adil Ray will host the show as the fan-favourite character, Mr Khan from BBC’s Citizen Khan. Michael Seal will act as the composer, conducting the performance’s breathtaking music.

So, what can guests expect with Under the Sitars?

Well, expect to listen to popular songs from a variety of well-known Bollywood films, such as Sholay, Loafer and 1942: A Love Story.

These songs, originally composed by the likes of Mohammad Rafi and Asha Bohle, will amaze spectators as musicians and vocalists, Nasa Munir and Sangeeta Bhageloe, put their skills to fantastic use.

Expect renditions of ‘Piya To Ab to Aaja’, ‘Yeh Dosti’, ‘Tere Bina Zindagi Se Koi Shikwa To Nahin’, Chura Liya’, and ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha’.

‘Under the Sitars’ will act as an ideal celebration of all things Bollywood. But that’s not all!

Ever wondered how Madonna’s famous songs would sound with a Pakistani twist? Well, now you can experience this unique take for yourself.

Musicians will re-create iconic songs such as the James Bond theme and ABBA tracks with a Pakistani edge. Going more closer to home, they will even reimagine the Eastenders theme tune! This truly is an event not to be missed.
