Pakistani actor and director Shamoon Abbasi has publicly addressed his strained relationship with his daughter during a recent podcast appearance.

He appeared on Ahmed Ali Butt’s popular podcast Excuse Me, where he discussed family tensions and clarified his stance.

From the outset, Abbasi stated he dislikes airing personal matters publicly but felt compelled to respond defensively.

He explained that his decision to speak was driven by accusations already circulating widely across digital platforms.

While discussing his family life, Abbasi reflected on his long relationship with his former partner and shared responsibilities.

“What does it mean by being there? If you talk about Anzela’s mother, we were together for 13 years.”

He emphasised that he never abandoned his family and remained physically present in Pakistan throughout his daughter’s upbringing.

Abbasi stressed that he lived nearby and rejected claims suggesting he had emotionally or physically distanced himself earlier.

According to him, the emotional distance developed gradually and became noticeable through subtle but painful signs. He recalled during the podcast conversation:

“There were no birthday wishes, no New Year wishes, there was no response.”

He found the silence troubling, especially given his daughter’s frequent phone usage and online presence.

The actor also addressed speculation surrounding financial responsibilities, expressing frustration at repeated public questioning.

He asked: “Do I need to show bills of whatever I did for her?”

Abbasi maintained that their relationship was never hostile but changed in ways that deeply unsettled him.

He said observing shifts in his daughter’s personality left him disturbed, particularly given entertainment industry pressures.

“I didn’t want to hear anything bad about my daughter, especially living in this cruel industry.”

He added that concern for her well-being ultimately led him to step back emotionally for his own mental stability.

“For me, my daughter’s changed perspective towards life became disturbing, after which I distanced myself from her.”

Abbasi firmly denied allegations of abandonment, stressing that claims of complete disconnection were untrue.

Addressing his absence from her wedding, Abbasi clarified that medical complications prevented his attendance.

“I didn’t attend her wedding because of an accident. I had surgery.”

He added that he had communicated with his daughter beforehand and believed the matter was resolved privately.

However, he expressed disappointment that the issue later escalated publicly, creating unnecessary online controversy.

“It became a fuss on the internet.”

Abbasi also commented on his daughter’s current lifestyle, acknowledging her independence and financial stability.

“They are both living a better life than me.”

Rather than resentment, he expressed happiness and prayed for their continued peace and prosperity.

Shamoon Abbasi’s only request, he said, was that his name not be repeatedly discussed in public forums.
