"Father is a villain in real life too."
Actor Shamoon Abbasi has responded to recent comments made by his daughter, actress and model Anzela Abbasi, regarding their distant relationship.
Anzela opened up about her childhood during a podcast interview with host Ahmed Ali Butt, revealing details that sparked widespread discussion online.
She said that her mother, actor Javeria Abbasi, had played both parental roles in her life and that she never missed her father.
“It’s not that she wasn’t working, but for me, she played the roles of both mom and dad.
“I never felt my father’s absence and had no complaints about her in that sense.”
Anzela added that her father had often been the “villain” in her story, someone she could not look up to.
“Father is a villain in real life too.”
Her remarks quickly caught public attention, reviving curiosity about her parents’ past marriage and the emotional challenges they faced.
In response, Shamoon posted several photos on Facebook showing moments with his daughter at different stages of her life.
He captioned the collection “THE ABSENT FATHER,” which many interpreted as a direct reply to Anzela’s claims during the interview.
The post received an outpouring of support from fans and industry colleagues who expressed empathy for Shamoon’s situation.
One fan commented: “May Allah give you strength.”
Another wrote: “You are not an absent father. The mother and daughter are selfish.”
One user added:
“Children are always collateral damage in parents’ fights.”
Shamoon and Javeria were once among the most admired couples in Pakistan’s entertainment industry and share a daughter, Anzela Abbasi.
Their marriage eventually ended, and Javeria has previously said she raised her daughter largely on her own as a single parent.
Despite their separation, both actors have found happiness again and moved forward with their personal lives and careers.
Shamoon is now happily married to actor Sherry Shah since 2023, while Javeria recently wed entrepreneur Adeel Haider.
Both of them appear to be content with their current partners.
The ongoing conversation surrounding their family has prompted wider reflection on relationships between parents and children after separation.
Many viewers noted that while celebrities live under constant public scrutiny, their struggles mirror those of many ordinary families.
Shamoon Abbasi’s post, however, seemed less like a rebuttal and more like a reminder that every story has two sides.
