“There’s something deeply emotional about my character.”

Renowned Indian actor Saswata Chattopadhyay is set to make his debut in the Bangladeshi entertainment industry with the upcoming Chorki original Gulmohar.

The series, described as a gripping family mystery-drama, will premiere on May 15, 2025.

Directed by Syed Ahmed Shawki, Gulmohar marks his return to directing after nearly three years.

This will also be his first original project for Chorki and his third major series overall.

Shawki gained critical acclaim for his earlier works, Taqdeer and Karagar, setting high expectations for this release.

The story delves deep into the fragile nature of family ties, exploring how power and ambition can corrode trust and love.

A promotional poster features the haunting line:

“The tune of relationships drowned in the greed for power.”

This tagline sets the tone for the emotional complexity the series promises.

Saswata Chattopadhyay, best known for his roles in Indian cinema, expressed deep interest in the character offered to him.

He added that such roles are increasingly rare, saying:

“There’s something deeply emotional about my character.”

The moment he found out filming would take place in Bangladesh, he agreed without hesitation.

The cast of Gulmohar also features prominent Bangladeshi actors, including Sara Zaker, Intekhab Dinar, Sushama Sarker, and Mostafizur Noor Imran.

Others in the ensemble include Mir Naufel Ashrafi Jisan, Sarika Sabah, Taufiqul Islam Emon, and Mostafa Monwar.

Shawki described Gulmohar as his most ambitious venture to date.

The drama navigates themes of betrayal, envy, and the price of power within tightly knit families.

Intekhab Dinar called it “a gripping drama woven with betrayal and complex family ties”.

He praised Shawki’s direction, saying he handled it “with a magician’s touch.”

Sushama Sarker also weighed in on the story’s emotional depth. She shared that the series captures how envy and greed unravel deep-rooted relationships.

She suggested that each character is layered with unspoken history and hidden motives.

With a fusion of powerful storytelling and a compelling cast, Gulmohar stands out among the year’s most anticipated Bangladeshi streaming releases.

Saswata Chattopadhyay’s debut adds a cross-border appeal, with many fans excited to see him on screen.

One expressed: “I am so excited for this!”

Another said: “Finally, something to look forward to.”

As anticipation builds, Gulmohar looks set to deliver a tense, emotionally layered story that stays with its audience long after the credits roll.
