"Acting is and will always be my priority."

Popular Bangladeshi actress Sabila Nur has officially entered the literary world with her first book, Bhalobasha Otopor.

However, unlike many celebrities who promote their books well in advance, the actress kept her writing venture a secret.

Sabila revealed the news two days before the Amar Ekushey Book Fair ended.

On February 26, 2025, she shared the book cover on social media, announcing that it contained 10 short stories.

Sabila also announced that it was available at Anannya Prokashoni’s Pavilion-27.

The late announcement meant many fans missed the opportunity to purchase her book at the fair.

Readers expressed both surprise and disappointment, questioning why she chose not to publicise it earlier.

In an industry where celebrity authors actively engage in book fairs and media promotions, Sabila’s low-key approach stood out.

Many speculated about her reasons for keeping it quiet, especially since other stars often hold launch events and interact with readers.

Addressing the matter, Sabila explained that writing is not her main profession.

She told the local media: “Acting is and will always be my priority.

“I only write occasionally, so I don’t consider myself a professional writer.”

She further mentioned that her book was co-written with Salam Russell and reassured fans that it remains available online despite the fair’s conclusion.

This isn’t Sabila’s first experience as a storyteller.

She has previously written for television dramas, and at least two of her stories were adapted for the screen.

In 2021, Parapar was based on her script, in which she also played the lead role.

The following year, in 2022, she wrote the story for Ridika, directed by Mahmudur Rahman Hime, starring alongside Yash Rohan.

Her decision to step into book writing came as a natural progression of her creative journey.

Having grown accustomed to developing narratives for television, she expanded her storytelling to literature.

While she may not see herself as a professional writer, Bhalobasha Otopor showcases her ability to craft compelling stories.

Despite her modest approach, the book’s release marks an important milestone in her career.

As a well-loved actress, Sabila Nur has captivated audiences on screen, and now, she has brought her storytelling skills to readers.

Whether she continues writing more books or focuses solely on acting, her literary debut has left fans eager to see what she does next.
