"I was confused and frightened"

Veteran Pakistani actor Rashid Mahmood was reportedly assaulted and robbed near Sheikh Khalifa Bridge in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab.

The assault followed a road accident, which resulted in an altercation that turned violent.

Rashid shared details of the incident in a video message from Rajanpur.

The actor had visible bruises on his face.

He said the attack occurred after he took a wrong turn toward Sheikh Khalifa Bridge while attempting to pick up his wife.

He had mistakenly exited the motorway at the Rahim Yar Khan interchange.

This unintentionally put him on a route less frequented and often considered risky.

According to the actor, a speeding motorcycle struck his car during the detour.

Although the riders were thrown off the bike, no serious injuries were reported. However, what followed was far worse.

Rashid said several men from the area gathered at the scene, blamed him for the collision, and began assaulting him.

In the chaos, his wallet, identity card, and other valuables were stolen.

In a statement, he said: “The motorbike hit me at high speed. I was confused and frightened, but I never expected what happened next.”

He also claimed that the individuals who attacked him seemed to be from criminal backgrounds, possibly bandits from nearby riverine zones.

Rashid explained that some of the attackers attempted to drag him away from the scene. This suggested that the situation could have escalated further.

Thankfully, a bystander intervened in time and called the police, effectively stopping the assault and preventing what might have turned into a kidnapping attempt.

The actor made it clear that the crash was not his fault and that the motorcycle riders had caused the accident.

Still, he found himself being physically attacked and robbed.

He added:

“They were the ones in the wrong, but they turned the blame on me. Some of them looked like local criminals.”

The incident has sparked outrage online, with many demanding stronger action to ensure safety on less-patrolled roads.

It has prompted serious questions about law enforcement’s presence in remote parts of Punjab.

Fans and fellow celebrities voiced their concern online, with many sharing messages of support and calling for immediate action from authorities.

They emphasised that no one, public figure or not, should be left vulnerable to such lawlessness.

Rashid Mahmood also urged officials to take the matter seriously and improve protection for citizens travelling in under-policed regions.
