Ranbir Kapoor to Star in Sourav Ganguly Biopic?

While the actor set to play the legendary cricketer hasn’t yet officially been announced, speculations suggest that it is Ranbir Kapoor.

Ranbir Kapoor is currently in Kolkata to promote his much-awaited film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar which is scheduled for a Holi release.

The actor is promoting the film at Eden Gardens with former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly.

Now, a picture of the two has gone viral on all social media platforms.

In the picture, they can be seen all smiles as they discuss something amid the film’s promotional activity.

In the viral pictures, Ranbir and Ganguly are seen wearing t-shirts with the film’s reference.

Several other people are also seen wearing t-shirts with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar printed on them.

The picture has been shared by several fan pages on social media too.

In the pictures, Ranbir Kapoor is seen donning an all-black look with ‘Ranbir’s Makkaar’ written on it.

His t-shirt also has ‘RK’ and the number 8 written on the back.

On the other hand, Ganguly is seen wearing a white t-shirt that has ‘Dada’s Jhoothi’ written on it.

He also has ‘Ganguly’ and the number 99 printed on the back.

Further, both are seen enjoying the game on the field.

A few days ago, there were reports that Ranbir is all set to play the role of Sourav Ganguly in his biopic.

He has been locked in for the titular role and the shooting of the film will begin soon as Ganguly has given the nod to the script.

According to sources, the other actors have not been finalised by the makers yet.

It has also been reported that cricketer MS Dhoni will also play a small role in the biopic.

However, nothing has been confirmed or officially announced by the makers yet.

In 2021, Ganguly confirmed that a biopic on his life was under development.

He also confirmed the news on social media with the caption: “Let’s get this ball rolling.”

Recently, Sourav Ganguly was in Mumbai and during his visit, he confirmed that he was writing the script.

He said: “I will be in Mumbai for several works. There are discussions regarding the script of the biopic. I am writing the script myself.

“The screenplay will be discussed with Luv Production House.

“For several months, the work of making the biopic did not progress much.”

“In fact, due to my and the production house’s tight schedule, the work was not picking up pace. This time, it will be done quickly.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Ranbir Kapoor also has the release of Animal in his pipeline.

The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna.
