“This is the first time someone has said this about me.”
Prarthana Fardin Dighi has publicly responded to allegations of unprofessionalism after being removed from the lead role in the film Tagar.
The project initially generated significant buzz with its teaser featuring Dighi, who received praise for her appearance and expressions.
Dighi was dropped from the film, with actress Puja Cherry now taking over the lead role.
As filming commenced, director Aalok Hasan cited “unprofessional behaviour” as the reason for Dighi’s removal.
Hasan confirmed that filming began in Chittagong’s BTCL Colony, with Puja Cherry and Ador Azad present.
In response to the allegations, Prarthana Fardin Dighi shared her perspective.
She strongly disagreed with the claim of unprofessionalism.
Dighi stated: “I completely disagree with the claim that I’ve behaved unprofessionally.”
She referred to her recent work in the teaser for Jongli, highlighting that she accepted being filmed from an unflattering angle.
Dighi said: “If I were unprofessional, I would have never allowed such a scene to be filmed.”
She maintained a composed attitude regarding her departure from Tagar.
The actress noted that changes in casting occur frequently in the film industry.
She revealed: “I find this situation quite normal. If the director feels that I don’t fit a role, he has the freedom to replace me.”
The actress pointed out that she has worked with many renowned filmmakers, including Shyam Benegal, without facing similar accusations.
Dighi implied that her professionalism has been validated by her previous collaborations, saying:
“This is the first time someone has said this about me.”
Addressing her time spent in the United States, Dighi acknowledged that communication gaps may have contributed to the situation.
She explained:
“While I was in the US, there might have been some difficulty maintaining communication due to the time difference.”
Ultimately, the director decided he no longer wanted to work with her, and she accepted his decision without argument.
Despite being removed from Tagar, Dighi expressed her genuine best wishes for the film and its team.
She admitted: “It feels a little sad for me to not be a part of it now.
Nevertheless, she hopes that the project succeeds and that no controversies overshadow its beauty.
Prarthana Fardin Dighi concluded: “I know the story and the character well. It’s a strong story with great casting.”
