Bushra Ansari was in London to receive the Star of Pakistan at the House of Commons.
This prestigious honour recognises her significant contributions to entertainment and culture, as well as her impactful social work.
Bushra is the first actress from the Pakistani drama industry to be honoured with this award.
The award ceremony was hosted by MP Yasmin Qureshi, who praised Bushra Ansari’s unparalleled contributions to the television sector.
During her acceptance speech, Bushra reflected on her journey.
She started her career as a child star, acting from the age of nine.
Bushra shared that, despite having only acted in two films throughout her career, she feels a deeper connection to television.
After her initial success in television, she briefly ventured into radio before returning to her roots in TV.
Bushra emphasised that her learning was largely practical since formal drama and art schools were not available during her formative years.
She expressed gratitude for the mentors who guided her along the way, helping her hone her skills.
Bushra noted: “The love and admiration from my fans have brought me to where I am today.”
In her address, Bushra highlighted the significance of Pakistani dramas.
She stated that these productions not only promote the country’s culture and traditional attire but also celebrate the Urdu language.
Furthermore, she acknowledged that Pakistani dramas are enjoyed worldwide, including in the UK.
The actress dedicated her award to her fellow writers and artists.
She talked about the collective effort involved in showcasing Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage on a global platform.
Bushra said:
“I am proud to receive this honour and to represent my country internationally.”
Bushra Ansari’s recognition follows previous honours awarded to other Pakistani talent at the House of Commons.
Mahira Khan received the Lifetime Achievement Award while Fahad Mustafa was recognised with the Diversity and Cultural Impact Award, along with the Global Cultural Unity Award for his contributions.
Ansari’s fans were ecstatic upon the news and congratulated the actress.
