Prarthana Fardin Dighi is set to bring Rabindranath Tagore’s iconic short story Dena Paona to life.
The actress will be taking on the lead role of Nirupama in the upcoming film adaptation.
Directed by Sadek Siddiqui and written by Miron Mohiuddin, the movie is funded by the government.
It is slated to begin filming on January 22, 2024, at the Khatib Khamar house in Hotapara, Gazipur.
Expressing her excitement about the role, Prarthana shared:
“For a long time, there have been discussions about me acting in this film, and it’s now been finalised.
“After hearing the story, I felt that the role of Nirupama offers a great opportunity for me.
“I’m confident that the entire Dena Paona team will approach the project with sincerity, ensuring that no detail is overlooked.
“I hope the audience will be curious enough to come to the cinema and experience the film first-hand.”
Discussing her passion for the role, the actress explained:
“When I heard the story from the director, I felt that Nirupama is a character that will give me ample opportunity to explore my acting abilities.
“Moreover, the fact that this film is based on a story by Rabindranath Tagore adds an extra layer of enthusiasm for me.”
Director Sadek Siddiqui also expressed his confidence in Prarthana’s abilities, stating:
“Since the project received the government grant, I’ve been in discussions with Dighi about the role of Nirupama.
“She felt like the perfect fit for the character. I’m excited to begin working with her, and I believe the audience will see a completely new side of her in Dena Paona.”
Prarthana Fardin Dighi’s journey in the entertainment industry has been remarkable.
She first gained recognition as a child artist, winning three National Film Awards before becoming a lead actress.
Her debut as a heroine came in 2021 with Tumi Acho Tumi Nei.
Since then, she has appeared in several projects, including the recently completed 36-24-36.
Two of her other films, Priyo Praktan and Jongli, are currently awaiting release.
In addition to her film career, Prarthana has a strong association with the streaming platform Chorki.
Reflecting on this collaboration, she said:
“I’ve always considered Chorki my family, and they’ve always treated me like one of their own. I’ll have some exciting new projects with them to share soon.”
