"Is that a reason to get a brain haemorrhage?"
Actress and model Poonam Pandey opened up about how her estranged husband Sam Bombay beat her, leaving long-lasting effects.
The starlet is a participant in Kangana Ranaut’s reality show, Lock Upp, which aired on February 27, 2022.
Speaking to fellow contestant, Karanvir Bohra, Poonam emotionally shared that she was not allowed to be alone in the house.
In the intense exchange, Poonam expressed that she had restricted use of her phone and would constantly be supervised. She said:
“Who likes to get beaten up? I had like four floors of house, private garden, private terrace, I had everything. I had a big house.
“If I am in one room, I am not allowed to be in that room.
“He would ask me why are you in that room, would force me to be with him in the room he wanted.
“When I would tell him that I wanted some time with myself, some fresh air, I wasn’t allowed.
“I was not allowed to take my phone anywhere, and was not allowed to touch my phone in my own house.”
Poonam Pandey also disclosed how Sam Bombay would drink at 10 am and become increasingly controlling, continuing:
“If I love my dog and sleep with it, he would say I love my dogs more than him. What kind of statement is that?
“Why should I get f*****g beaten up for loving my dogs? Is that a reason to get a brain haemorrhage? Because I have one.”
Earlier in the episode, Poonam said she had lost her sense of smell due to getting beaten up in the same spot.
Talking to co-contestant Nisha Rawal, she explained this effect of the abuse has still not passed.
The emotional and in-depth conversations surprised viewers.
The revelation comes after months of allegations towards Sam Bombay about his treatment of the actress.
Having married on September 1, 2020, Poonam and Sam’s relationship quickly deteriorated.
She initially accused him of assault and molestation before filing another police complaint against him in 2021.
Since then, the personality has split up from Sam Bombay but the alleged wounds she suffered are still apparent.
Poonam said her brain injury has not healed. She also stated if she had any scars or marks, she would “apply makeup, gloss and laugh in front of everyone, to hide it”.
In February 2022, on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube channel, the model admitted she was in therapy and in a much better space mentally.
Although, given this problematic relationship, Poonam has stated that going on Lock Upp is an exciting venture.
Lock Upp features 16 celebrities locked in a jail-like setting and competing for basic provisions.
